Outstanding experience at Gatetrees Resort in Jaffna. Our host was incredibly kind and attentive, always available to help with anything we needed. He prepared an amazing crab curry for us — honestly one of the best dishes we had during our entire trip to northern Sri Lanka, authentic Jaffna style at its finest. The rooms are well-maintained, spacious, and impeccably clean. The entire staff is friendly, welcoming, and always smiling. Great location for visiting central Jaffna, Nallur Kovil, and the Dutch Fort. Highly recommended for travelers who want to explore the Tamil north of Sri Lanka with the right balance of comfort and genuine local hospitality. Thank you for everything!

“Home, away from home”
I had such a genuinely wonderful stay at GateTrees Resort, and I honestly left feeling like I was leaving home rather than a hotel. A very special mention to Edman Suganthini — her kindness, warmth, and personalised care made the entire experience unforgettable. She constantly checked in on our well-being and made sure we were comfortable throughout the stay. It never felt transactional; it truly felt like we were being taken care of by family. The rooms are incredibly spacious, clean, and peaceful, and the mattress was honestly one of the most comfortable I’ve slept on in a long time. After long days travelling around Jaffna, coming back to the room felt so relaxing. And the food… absolutely amazing, amazing, amazing. The local dishes prepared by the cook were exceptional and full of authentic flavour. You can really taste the love and care in the cooking. Most importantly — please do not skip the breakfast here. Even after my trip, I’m still craving the exact same dosa, pittu, fresh fruit platter, and coffee. Everything was so fresh, comforting, and incredibly delicious. Thank you again to the entire team at GateTrees Resort for such a heartfelt experience. I will definitely return whenever I’m back in Jaffna.

An amazing place in a central location, conveniently close to town. The rooms are very comfortable and well-equipped with all the necessary amenities. The breakfast was wonderful, with a great variety and quality. The staff were professional, attentive, and very accommodating to our requests, which made the stay even more enjoyable. Overall, a truly amazing experience. I would highly recommend it.

“Quiet and friendly guest house in the heart of busy Jaffna”
Good sized bathroom with lots of surface space and nice towels. Lovely balcony with chairs and table. The restaurant food was an absolute highlight. All staff were eager to help us with local suggestions and activities.

The managers is a encyclopaedia of knowledge and always helpful and calm. The staff are attentive and kind. The two chefs are excellent so that all the food is always at least ‘very good’. The crab curry was superb. The garden is an oasis of quiet. The rooms are large, clean and the bed is extremely comfortable. The hotel is within walking distance of a good coffee shop , the laundry service and local sights. There are cars and tuk tuks readily available to book through the hotel or on ‘pick me’. A highly recommended stay.

A pleasant resort with a fantastic team who are always ready to help. The rooms are spacious and clean. The food of the restaurant is delicious. Tip: ask for the mud crab—it’s so tasty! The location in relation to the city’s main highlights is perfect. Everything is reachable within 10 minutes by tuk-tuk.

We had delicious food for breafast as well for dinner. They really care about frechness and the springrolls may be the best I ever had. The staff is lovely, caring and made us feel very welcome. The rooms are oriented to the garden with lush trees... a green heaven in the middle of Jaffna. The location is great and we met a lot of nice people.

Rooms were a good size, clean and well appointed and fairly recently upgraded. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Grounds were very well kept. Located in a quiet suburb but walking distance to sites, shops, bank ATM and restaurant ( try Mango’s Indian Restaurant)

Lovely lay out. Owner and staff excellent. Got me a thin duvet extra, no trouble and bring drinks to room. Crab curry, prawn curry and prawn biryani all delicious. Have to have the crab curry. Breakfast- have to order night before, omelet, toast, marmalade or choice of 3 Sri Lankan breakfasts. I have potatoe curry and rotti- very good. Plus a banana and small plate of fruit. Nice sitting out area in front of rooms facing gardens. Or use seating area. SLR 600 for Tuk Tuk to train station. Train running at 6:30/40 to Anuradhapura daily. Get to station about 6 and buy ticket. About 700/- each. Good journey.
