We recently stayed for two nights at Totobe and had a fantastic time. Location is just a few meters from the beach with the sound of the waves adding to our peaceful nights sleep. My daughter loved the pool and the few games in the open plan living area. Playa San Miguel is a stunning beach and there is surf rental / lessons nearby. We had the breakfast which we highly recommend, a bounty of fresh fruit and local dishes!

Dinner made by staff was so delicious, as well as breakfast. We loved the tranquility of Totobe, the easy and relaxed vibes. Nice having the sea right in front of your doorstep. Thanks for an awesome stay.

Great isolated location, steps away from the ocean, only drawback is the unpaved roads and the lack of gas stations.

“Stunning, friendly place to unwind”

Stunning location next to the ocean, relaxing and no one about really! The freshly made feast of a breakfast was plentiful and delicious, the staff were v friendly. You can use the kitchen which is well stocked and tables set out for you. The hammocks were a delight to just lazy in and soak up the environment. We only stayed a night and would definitely go back.

“Oh the view!”

The view and the location were amazing. I practically had the entire long stretch of beach to myself. The staff, Floré (Flory), Marjorie and Maureen are wonderful and helpful, even with my broken Spanish. My favourite parts of breakfast were the fresh juices and the rice and beans. Oh, I drank my body weight in coconut water :). I loved how 'untouched' the surroundings were. I saw sea turtles (hatchlings) going to the sea and macaws, they were so beautiful.

“Good if you lower your expectations”

- The highlight was the amazing location, so close to the beach! As in the pictures, one can walk a 100 meters and find a semi-deserted, long stretch of beautiful beach - The breakfast was copious and delicious,and a bit different each morning - The personnel was extremely kind - The swimming pool was very clean and well organized, with showers next to it - There is a common area with board games and books, very nice to chill there in the evenings. There is also the possibility to cook your own food on site (stovetop, fridge, plates and cutlery, etc) -The place only had a handful of rooms (and I think they were not all occupied when we were there), so it felt like there was a lot of space for everyone and not very crowded

Note: during my stay I was the only guest of the hotel. The location is what makes this hotel great. Next to the beach, which is beautiful and very quiet with most of the time only a few.fishermen. I wish I would never have to leave. Bring your own food and drinks because there are almost no restaurants or shops around the hotel. You can use the communal kitchen, which is well stocked with all the amenities you need to cook a meal. The breakfast that was made every morning was really plentiful, for me even enough to also cover lunch. Everything was also really delicious! Don't expect luxury, the rooms are pretty basic and have only cold showers (which is fine because it isn't that cold). I didn't have issues with mosquitoes. The ceiling fan just ran 24/7 and kept them out I guess.

“Lovely location, private atmosphere”

The location and privacy of the place is amazing. You basically have the beach almost for yourself. Staff was very friendly, breakfast is very nice. The property has so much potential, unfortunately you can see that is has gotten into a certain age and would need some "fine-tuning". Loved that fact that you could also use the kitchen (even if we only went for Pizza takeout 😝)

“Solitude off the beaten track”

Welcoming and friendly staff who cooked breakfast and dinner as we like it. The secluded location off the beaten track. As we were early in the season, we had the whole resort for ourselves (the staff left during the day and the night, which felt a bit strange during the first night as we wondered whether we were safe).

“A hidden gem in Costa Rica”

This is indeed a hidden gem in Costa Rica. It is a place to rest and disconnect from the rest of the world. The owner and crew are super amazing and very friendly. The breakfast is delicious, it is hand-made and has several options. For lunch and dinner, you can prepare your own food. There is a grocery store 10 min away from the property by car. The property has all kitchen utensils you would need for cooking. There are restaurants around the zone as well. We had the chance of seeing little turtles and an unthinkable and awesome sunset while raining. This was not planned but it might common in that zone.

“Very beautiful and quite place, great nature and people”

Beautiful location, at the end of a road. Very quiet, lots of animals to see right around the house. We had very good contact with the owner and his son, which was contributing to the overall atmosphere even more.

“Peaceful location”

Amazing location, directly at the beach, quiet and breakfast was amazing. Letty was so helpful. Rooms are simple and got pretty hot but with some fans it was ok. Also some good surf around there.

The place is great, but a bit remote. We were there without a car, which made outings tricky. Next time we will rent a car to explore the area.

It's on the beach, the breakfast is simply phenomenal, the staff were really friendly. My kids enjoyed the pool. We all loved it and wish we'd had a couple more days here.
