Overview
Built in 1889, this hotel is located in the scenic Lower Connecticut River Valley, within the historic town of Essex. It features a restaurant and has elegant Victorian décor. Each room at Copper Beech Inn has a private bathroom stocked with a bathrobe and bath amenities. Rooms are furnished with antiques. Our on-site restaurant offers a French-style bistro setting and boasts a 2,500 bottle wine cellar. A full breakfast is served every morning and is included in the room price. Free Wi-Fi access is provided throughout Copper Beech Inn. There is a business center on site, as well as 3 large dining rooms for meetings, banquets or weddings. The Ivoryton Playhouse is a half-mile from the inn. Chamard Vineyards are 11.5 miles away.

“Ivoryton's Lovely Historic Inn”
The main Inn building is truly classic! There is a lovely enclosed porch where a substantial breakfast included in the room rate is served, a stately wood paneled bar, and a welcoming formal dining room where dinner is served to the public several nights a week. The Copper Beech Inn is the real deal! Even better were our rooms, large, comfortable queen-bedded rooms with spacious tiled bathrooms with separate bathtubs and walk-in showers. The decor reminded me a bit of a simplified version of a Williamsburg Inn room with very nice Regency style mahogany furniture and excellent amenities, including choice Williams-Sonoma towels and other upscale touches. Our rooms were lovely.

Good location. Spacious room. The inn interior and exterior is need of care/maintenance, as things are tired overall. Breakfast was included ($20 worth which was enough to cover a meal and a hot or cold drink) but the options were very limited and everything was quite heavy/oily and not well cooked. Some lighter options would be good and cooking could be improved.

Magnificent hotel in a lovely environment, although being close to a road, there is little traffic and therefore calm. The staff is very welcoming and warm. We ate there, refined cuisine, with an astonishing French-inspired menu, but adapted to American tastes, the chef is French. Breakfast was also excellent.

“This is a lovely inn in a convenient area with a good restaurant and staff eager to help.”
We ate at the restaurant and had very friendly waiter and a delicious dinner. No-one was there at the early hour we dined at and we had a nice table by the window. The Inn is near several other towns and we had tickets to the show playing at the Goodspeed Opera House. A short drive to the theater. Also, we were pleased that our room was ready before 3, so we we were able to check in early.

The room provided was large, modern, and comfortable. This would have been nice if it were in a hotel, but we were looking for a historic inn experience, so the room fell short of expectations.

It is in a very good location on the edge of the lovely town of Essex . The food was good though a bit pricey but service was poor. The room was spacious as was the bathroom but the room was poorly lit. It is a charming old house but fails to match up to the image it tries to project.

“A wonderful experience, looking forward to returning.”
The Inn was beautiful, and the room was spacious and very comfortable. We dined in the restaurant for dinner, and it was delicious. Thomas was our server, and it was a pleasure to meet him and his recommendations on both the food and what to see during our visit were spot on. Breakfast was also very nice and over all we felt refreshed and relaxed while we stayed at the inn.
