“Very relaxing place for a couple nights of island life”

Cheapest place we could find to stay on the island. Really nice place to chill and hang out. The rooms are basic but it’s island life. It is about ~15 minute walk to the village where there are more food options. The restaurant food was ok but slightly more expensive.

Everything was great, the restaurant food is pretty good, didn’t do any tours but did rent kayak and paddle boards. It’s a great place to chill for a few days.

“A beautiful rustic hostel on a paradise island, with a close connection to nature.”

The location is excellent, especially its SW aspect on Isla Grande which means it catches the sun, including a very beautiful sunset. Whilst there is not a 'picture postcard white sandy beach', there is access to a swimming area in front of the hostel, so the effect is actually the same. 'No sandy beach' is really not an issue! There is an attached restaurant, and although it is technically a separate business to the hostel, practically it is like having a restaurant in the hostel. The food was good, and the hostel bar served a great selection of tasty drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic. The room was basic but comfortable, and the room we stayed in had a seafront balcony, which was truly beautiful. The ethos of the hostel - to respect and be closer to nature - was very comforting, and we definitely felt connected to nature during our stay because the plants and wildlife flow beautifully through the site. Going to sleep to the sound of waves breaking on the shore, and waking to exotic birdsong, is truly a great privilege and an amazing experience. There are plenty of comfortable spaces for people to relax, whether they want to sunbathe, relax in the shade, socialise and play board games, or sit at the bar - it felt very private, and not at all cramped. At the same time as we were there, there were also one or two larger groups (of five or so) who were still having a great time. There are activities that can be booked on arrival, such as swimming with bioluminescent plankton (which was amazing), snorkelling on a local reef (also amazing), kayaking, snorkelling and so on. These are advertised very clearly on a display board in the central area of the hostel. The staff were friendly and helpful - they recommended Mary Cartagena Travel for the journey between Cartagena and Isla Grande. The other guests were friendly, relaxed and respectful.

Location on the island was good, it’s nice to have a private area of beach. Snorkelling trip was fun.

I love this place because more natural than many beach club concept, eco friendly, best sunset in island. In my opinión best part of the island, more relax than north. We love the place 2 days in heaven 🙏🏻

I think best part of the island, comparing to the all beach club Concept of the island , this place is in balance with the island, natural, relax place to chill. Next door is beach club bora bora so till 16.30 there is music but we enjoyed our stay here

Fantastic location on the west side of the island with breathtaking sunsets. Friendly staff, delicious house cocktails, great snorkeling tours, and the best ceviche!

“A beautiful stay in the Caribbean paradise”

We absolutely loved our stay in El Hamaquero- so much so that we ended up extending it by one night! The hostel is right by the water and, having explored some other beaches in the island, we actually thought the hostel’s one was by far the best- and has the best sunset view! Our room was simple but clean, and not much beats waking up with the view of the Caribbean ocean and the sound of birds! The staff were also super friendly, and even after we left the hostel have been helping me retrieve something I forgot behind. Would really recommend this if you are looking for a relaxing getaway in paradise.

“A lovely few days in the Rosario islands”

A lovely hotel on Isle Grande. I had the sea facing room with my own terrace which was really nice. The restaurant served very tasty food and the restaurant owner couldn’t have been friendlier! You can walk to the village via a trail in about 10 minutes. All the staff at the hotel were welcoming and helpful. Would come back!

“Amazing location, simple accommodation”

I stayed two nights at El Hamaquero on Isla Grande del Rosario. The location is absolutely stunning — a true gem facing one of the most beautiful seas I’ve seen in Colombia. Incredible nature, peaceful atmosphere, and the perfect place to relax. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are available at the property’s restaurant. Prices are slightly higher than the Colombian average, but understandable given the island location. Snorkeling right in front of the property is beautiful.

“Unique experience...dreaming to come back”

Just one hour from Cartagena a place to relax and enjoy the amazing sunset view ..you can wake up and just jump in the water. Truly ecological concept. It's a place to wine down but they also have very fun and unique activities I really enjoyed the bioluminescent plancton night swim - just a unique experience and the guy doing the experience was really lovely (sorry can't remember the name). Stuff were really friendly and lovely - especially Benjamin and Felix- they help make this a unique experience. I wish I could stay longer.

“Dreamy location, disappointing at last”

Our room had an amazing view. It was all I expected from the pics of the place. It was on the first floor, so even when it was pouring rain during a storm it held up quite well. That was not the case for all rooms. Room was clean at arrival, but it's not being cleaned during the stay. The atmosphere is nice and relaxing, could use better maintenance. Place itself is peaceful in the evening, but you will hear the music from the pueblo. Personally not a problem but you may need earplugs for sleeping (they are not provided as in all the other accommodations where we stayed). Breakfast is not included but available for a price, as all other meals. The restaurant and its staff was the best thing about the place together with the view from our room. Receptionist was nice and helpful. I would have gone back if it weren't for our trip back and mixed feelings about the property management which felt like a façade welcome.

Everything was good , man at reception Benjamin was best.

What we loved the most about this ecohotel was its sustainable foundation and outlook on life; they provide restorative support to the local ecosystem and prioritize the local native population with education and awareness building surrounding the impacts of climate change. Throughout our stay it became clear how special El Hamaquero is amongst its competitors on the island. Not only is it a family run business built on a foundation of admirably eco friendly and radically sustainable principles, but the breathtaking natural landscapes and amazing mangrove and coral adventures were a highlight. Would recommend and will definitely be back.

The location was stunning. It's such a chilled hostel. The guests and the staff are very easy going. It does feel like paradise. Having the sea next to you surrounded by beautiful trees, animals, it's a blessing. The food was also lovely, freshly prepared by the local staff.
