Wonderful private Beach. Snorkling renting possible, Car rental, Kajak, always fresh Towels, super room cleaning every day. It was PARADISE!!. Josh was the best Hotel guide i had in my life. Always made sure we have everything we need. Also did reservations in restaurants and gave us tips and tricks. If you read this Josh - You're amazing! <3

We had an incredible stay! Our room was incredibly spacious, great views, and was extremely clean. Our host was very attentive, happy to help with anything a guest needed, and was happy to share a story or two! We couldn't have asked for a better host!

The host Josh and the staff are exceptional! They gave us a lift from and to the airport. Served amazing breakfast and organise a snorkelling day trip , booked restaurant reservations and advised on attractions and things to do around the island as well as rest of the Japan. That also have kayaks to use and snorkeling equipment to rent so one less thing to think/pack!

Ishigaki Sunset Cove, is very welcoming, and warm, they really do make you feel at home. There is nothing more I could add that has not been said about Josh and his lovely wife, and everyone at the hotel. Even on the the greyest and rainiest days they Make sure their guests are taken care of and their needs are met. You don’t need to plan what to do as Josh sends you all the informations and more. The hotel is not very big to get lost in yet big enough to walk about, it is tucked away between nature, sea and beach! A very peaceful and relaxing retreat. It has the ideal position for daily exploration of the island, and not a great distance to the city center for supper or a late evening out. We did not expect as much rain as we received, but even that could not keep us from visiting the scenic points and the famous beaches when the rain cleared. Thank you to everyone.

“Great beachside location, welcoming staff”

This location is great, next to the beach and facing west for the most beautiful sunsets. There are plenty of activities to choose from, including snorkelling, kayaking, and cycling. The staff are warm and friendly, making you feel right at home. Upon checking in, the manager provides a handy list of nearby recommended spots and restaurants to keep in mind while exploring the surroundings. The pool is available 24/7!

Everything!!! From the staff to the manager, everyone was so nice, the breakfast was amazinggg. Nice view from the room, comfy beds. Josh is giving the best advice on where to go in the island. We will be back!

I loved the personal touch from Josh and his team. Many reviews mention how much effort they put into taking care of their guests, and it’s absolutely true - he’s doing an amazing job. Josh was always helpful, with great recommendations whether it was a local restaurant, food market, or places to explore on the island. He’s such a character too, full of stories about Japan and the world, I have no doubts he really loves what he does. The hotel itself is in a remote location with its own beach, kayaks, swimming pool, and other amenities. Don’t expect big-chain treatment and scale - it’s a friendly, relaxed place where you can either chill out or go exploring the island. Just note—it’s more of a western-style place in Japan, giving you insights into how the country works, rather than a traditional Japanese experience.

“Amazing”

The owner and his wife have been such so nice and helpful throughout all the holidays. I had the opportunity to have a fresh, tasty and amazing gluten free breakfast every morning. They drove us from the airport to hotel and back. I higly higly recommend it.

We loved our stay of 5 days here, only wish we had longer, Josh was very helpful with advising us of places to visit, beaches, interesting sites & some great Cafes & restaurants, he even attended to a coral cut on my foot! The staff were very friendly & accommodating. We hope to visit Ishigaki again one day & will definitely pick Sunset Cove to stay, it was a perfect location for us as we prefer the North part of the island, which is quiter & very picturesque. Thanks Jen & Chris 🙏

“Wish we had stayed longer!”

We had an awesome stay at Sunset Cove. Coming from a busier side of the island we particularly enjoyed the location and being steps away from the most beautiful beaches. Having kayaks, e-bikes and snorkel gear available to use at your leisure was a game changer. The sunset views were spectacular! We spent our days beach hopping, island exploring, hiking and free-diving (rich underwater sea life). The cooked breakfast was good but consistent replenishment of buffet items like fruit and coffee could have been better. Josh was an encyclopedia of knowledge and very helpful in his suggestions and accommodating our time there. The room was comfortable and had everything we needed.

Perfect location by the bay, extremely friendly staff. The owner, Josh, is extremely helpful and knowledgeable about the island. The room was comfortable and clean.

A very nice hotel with excellent service, especially the general manager Josh, who turned out to be a wonderful person, very open and helpful. Thanks to him, we knew where and when it was worth seeing and visiting on the island. We were a large group of 15 people, and thanks to his help, we could always find a place to eat, which is not so easy in Japan. Delicious breakfasts. Unfortunately, there is no restaurant on site, but thanks to Josh's kindness, we had the opportunity to taste his cuisine. For our farewell dinner, he cooked us one of the most delicious ragatoni I have ever had the opportunity to eat in my life. We also recommend his Blady Merry, as it is a very delicious drink with an original flavor in his proposal. Thanks a lot, Josh, it was a wonderful trip and it was extremely nice to meet you. Overall, a great place, we recommend it.
