“Historical building, nice service, culture experience”
The hotel is very beautiful and historical. The staff patiently explained everything to us when we checked in. He even put Taiwan flag on the reception desk to show that they have Taiwanese guests to stay for the night, very sweet. The room is spacious because we booked a 4 people room but we only have 2 people, I assume there 2 people room would be a bit small for a party of 2. The bathroom and toilet is shared, and they close the bathroom for using after 11pm, around 10pm all guests were queuing to use the bathroom, so if you want, please consider to use the bathroom a bit earlier to avoid the queue. They don’t open the bathroom in the morning so if you are a morning bath person please discuss with the staff.

“Travel back in time in this beautiful ryokan”
I had a wonderful stay here. The place was absolutely spotless, including the shared facilities like toilet and showers. The futon was comfortable, and the staff were extremely welcoming and kind, they even gave me maps for my upcoming destinations. Like in many old Japanese buildings in winter, it was cold inside, but the AC solved the issue, and the duvet was also warm and cozy. Staying in that beautiful old building felt a bit like traveling back in time, truly a special experience.

“Wonderful!”
Comfortable and spacious room in an absolutely gorgeous building. Host was friendly and helpful. This would be a great option if you've never stayed in a Japanese style inn before but would like to try it, as there are lots of helpful notes (in English and other languages) explaining the parts that may be unfamiliar :) Highly recommended!

“A budget conscious and traditional place to stay in Ise full of authentic cram and atmosphere”
If you are after an authentic inn experience this is for you, its a historic old inn built in 1926 with recent (1990’s) renovations - the host is exceptionally patient and kind and speaks om’s english and is used to gaskins trampling around his hotel. If you don’t like sleeping on thin futons on tatami mats, then this isn’t your spot. You could ask for extra mats to raise the bed higher? I opted out of the breakfast and drove close by to June Coffee (part of the FAV Hotel Group) for a decent coffee and toastie to start the day. Baths here are traditional and super clean - towels are provided. It’s a charming older style place so no Big Tall Americans should come here and complain about things that can bed answered via AI/Internet searches.

Gorgeous vintage Ryokan, for an authentic experience in Ise. Not far from the train station and from a couple of bus stops that take you to the two big shrines. Beautiful rooms and inner garden, architecture very reminiscent of the merchant houses of Ise. Very friendly and professional staff, old-school courteous service and very nice breakfast, either Japanese of Western. All around great inn.

“Friendly host, authentic experience, would stay here again”
It was an old guesthouse but pretty well kept, and very authentic experience in staying in the tatami rooms. Host was really friendly and nice, gave all the guests tour around the inn. There's also trinkets of histories peppered around for guests to read and understand the history behind this lodging. Because I was heading to nagoya, host also gave me a brochure of nagoya subway map & list of famous food~ really the nicest host I've ever met.

Great stay in a traditional ryokan. The house has its own character, and although it can be creaky sometimes, it's just charming. The host was very kind and always helpful. Comfortable room, perfect bath.

“Magical and highly recommend!”
Hoshidekan is a family run Ryokan of exceptional character and beauty - 4 generations ago the same family had this superb building made, and it represents a rare touch stone to Japan's past.
