“A Good Innings”

The staff. They were very friendly and accommodating. They helped us with a doctors appointment which also led to an interesting and enjoyable trip with the host to the vegeatable market. The chef was versatile and happy to experiement- try the curry leaf juice - I don't think you'll find it on the menu. However we were told it was very good for you.

The staff were very friendly and very helpful in organising things for us. The room was spacious with a comfortable bed and had a beautiful view out to sea. The home cooked food was delicious with a good menu choice. The swimming pool was relaxing.

“A great place at the sea to freshen your mind.”

Excellent location at sea. Very warm welcome from manager Mr Kumare. The view from thee roof top terrace is great, also to have a meal there (which is possible).

We had the best 3 nights sleep here during our month in Sri Lanka. Lovely room with plenty of hot water. The breakfast was great and we ate in the restaurant each evening which served top quality food. The free pushbikes were a bonus for us to explore the local area and meet with the friendly locals.

The hotel and staff are exceptional..the sunset room was beautiful.. food fantastic .. pool really clean..

We got a free upgrade to family suite and it was really nice. Staff were very friendly and provided with all of our needs. Food was delicious.

The staff were extremely friendly, polite and efficient. The room was excellent, with an extremely comfy bed. Great pool table and crystal clear swimming pool. Free bikes were of excellent quality. The included breakfast was great.

“Comfortable Stay”

This was quite a comfortable stay and the amenities of the hotel and the room were quite good.

“Excellent, not crowded calm place to stay.”

I didn’t expect many things while staying in Calypso Sunset. In a good way. Firstly, it’s quite calm here. The hotel is located by the sea, and the town near is not really loud, I think it’s suitable for those who plan to stay in the hotel for many days without going anywhere to visit tourist attractions. I would say the hotel itself is a tourist attraction. A small one, but a nice one. Secondly, the sea. I went to the sea to swim, bit when I saw I was afraid to do it, I envy those who can swim professionally and are not scared to go further where it is deep. I was quite pleased - it’s really beautiful here and the waves are not so big, the sea is calm, I could wash my toes! Thirdly, Calypso. Though the hotel is in a calm place, it’s never quite in the evening. I was shocked to see musicians on the roof of the hotel where I drank wine and listened to Calypso and classical songs in Sri-Lankan style (like “Yesterday” and Elvis Presley songs, they sound strangely but interestingly with native melodies). That’s a good idea to suggest guests going deep into culture that way, though mosquitos bit me, I didn’t notice it. And I couldn’t expect me playing Calypso either. There were two guitars hang on the wall, I thought that was a decoration, but the waiter told me I could play the guitar myself! He gave me a tuner. Never saw a possible offer in any other hotel. Lastly, the sunset. The sunsets are astonishing here. As the hotel is near the sea, sun here seems so close, and there are no buildings that could ruin the view. Of course the food was tasty, I like the local twist in it and it wasn’t so hot. But I don’t want to like about rooms and other features as everything is done well. I pointed out the main details which I liked and which in my mind illustrate the main idea of the hotel. I hope to go here again. I should learn a Sinhala song to play it on the guitar!
