“Oh dear 😲”
We made a last minute booking after a long and tiring day of travel. We turned up within 40 minutes to be met by a very sullen old lady who really couldn't have been less welcoming and were shown to a grubby, completely bare, effectively windowless (a tiny window opened to the inner hall so no natural light or fresh air) little box room. I've travelled a lot in the last 22 years and I've happily stayed in all kinds of cheap hostels but everything about this was just depressing, especially her attitude. The lady disappeared for some time to make phone calls then eventually reappeared and showed us a room we could use which was better (some of the rooms were ok in that they were spacious and high ceilinged) and then insisted on charging more than the agreed price, 16% more, which was the final straw, so we left despite the late hour. Given some of the good ratings here it seems we were a bit unfortunate though I notice others had similar experiences. Definitely my worst experience on Booking.com. Just along the road was the hotel Esmeralda where, by complete contrast, the welcome couldn't have been nicer. A decent room, private bathroom, a balcony etc but mostly a smile!

“Really nice hostel in a great location”
This is a great stay in the centre near the beach and lots of restaurants and bars. The staff are really helpful and friendly. The room is spacious and clean, it has a nice lounge area and the kitchen is small but well equipped.

“Disapointed”
The hostel is in a very old building and we felt it was poorly maintained. The room had a weird smell and the bathroom didn’t smell good at all. The kitchen was very basic and didn’t feel clean at all. We were surprised because it has good reviews, but we were very disappointed. The walls were very dirty, you could see the moist on them. The owners were very friendly, that’s all.
