“Excellent stay in amazing location”

I came to Imlil to stay a couple of days but finally I end up staying 2 weeks in Dar Atlas with Jamal and his lovely family. It is amazing quet place in neibourhood surrounded by hills and cherry trees. I also took Jamal guiding services and went to Toubkal with his guide. The place is clean with amazing food and terace view. I will surely come back here again. Thank you!

“Fantastic views, lack of communication from staff”

Amazing rooftop views. I don't mean to make this review neither positive nor negative, it's just that our experience was just like we had slept at an aging riad that wasn't open. Rooms were passable, but very old uncomfortable beds, lots of flies, no place to put shower head etc, no comfort on the rooftop etc, but this is all kind of ok as it's a proper 'off the main road' berber house and part of the general experience. The guy checked us in, I asked about dinner, he said that you have to pre-order but then we didn't see anybody around the riad for the rest of the day, so we had to head into the town to eat, infact we never really saw anyone until it was time to pay for the room at checkout.

“Dar Atlas ruined our trip to Imlil with food poisoning, vermin, constant noise, and hostile owner”

The owner, Jamal, is a ruthlessly dishonest man who aggressively attempted to silence our negative review through intimidation, and by cancelling our reservation after we had checked in and paid, but before we had checked out, then claimed we never even arrived to the hotel in the first place. I had to struggle with Booking customer support for days refuting the lies Jamal had told them just to be able to write this review you are now reading. He attempted to charge us twice for our stay at Dar Atlas by claiming that we never arrived after he took our payment in cash and failed to give us a receipt or register our check-in with Booking in any way. The excellent rating of his "hotel" (actually a repurposed house above a pen of farm animals) does not reflect reality, only his relentless manipulation of his business's online reputation. In reality he is unhelpful, unresponsive, absent and dismissive at best, and at worst rude, aggressive, manipulative, and larcenous. I saw Jamal at the hotel only twice in the week we were there. His wife does all the real work. The first time was to ask for the payment, which he did curtly without even introducing himself, and then left. The second time was after I'd contacted customer service at Booking about the food poisoning I got from breakfast at Dar Atlas (I was doing intermittent fasting and ate nothing else all day). He waited for us outside our room and then yelled at us, called us liars, ridiculously claimed my symptoms were caused by altitude sickness (despite never asking what they were), claimed we had brought the flies to the hotel with our boots, and insulted us a variety of other ways I'd rather not repeat. He showed no interest in helping us, trying to hear us out, or treating us as guests. He simply lost his temper and got defensive. We stayed at Dar Atlas for over a week, and it was one of the worst weeks I've spent anywhere. Please think twice before staying at Dar Atlas.

The breakfast was good with tea, fresh juice, coffee, cake and more. The location is a bit outside of Imlil. It can be hard to find. Jamal the owner is very helpfull if you want to arrange a tour or something else.

After a little walk from the mainroad and up some stair, you'll end up at a wonderful Moroccan guesthouse with an very good value for money. Every morning there is a lovely breakfast made in the livingroom and the rooms they provide are spacious. The owner Jamal is really helpful and friendly and thanks to him I hiked to the summit of Toubkal.

“Great stay at Dar Atlas”

I really enjoyed my stay here, I just found it about of a trek to Imlil about 3 or 4 k where there are amenities etc, if you want somewhere out of the way, then this is for you.

The hospitality of the owner, food, the room, dinner and breakfast were amazing. I highly recommend this place

Authentic experience. The real rural High Atlas.

Good price, good facility.

Good stay, you have to walk like 10 minutes from the main road where you leave the car. The room was really cold in winter, however we had enough blankets. The bathroom was ok, however the sink had a leak and the water was spread all over the floor. Very good breakfast, the views from the terrace were amazing. The price was really cheap. In the common area you have a heater. About 20-25 walking from the centre of Imlil.

This is a small guesthouse with only a few rooms and a large common area and roof terrace. Location is excellent and breakfast was generous. Bedsheets could have been a little cleaner but there were plenty of blankets for cold nights. If nobody's home upon arrival, just find a kid in the village to fetch the owner.

Incredible location and beautiful surroundings. A fantastic breakfast and perfect place to go hiking from.
