“Ryoken on the Shimanami Kaido”

We were two Westerners staying in a traditional Japanese ryoken. Therefore only traditional breakfast as expected and futons on tatami mats which were very comfortable. The ryoken has male and female public bath which enabled us to develop our bath house etiquette before moving onto an onsen. Craft brewery nearby - Omishima Brewery and cafe called Sando.

Really nice traditional Ryokan with high quality. Nice cotton sheets and real tatami’s. Beautiful room. Really nice breakfast room.

I absolutely loved the breakfast. The food was super authentic and of very high quality. The room was also very pretty, in traditional Japanese style.

The room was excellent and there was a nice onsen in the hotel. They offered to take us to a salt water bath for free. There was hot tea waiting for us in the room which was a nice touch.

Very friendly staff, very comfortable room. Overall we felt right at home. We particularly enjoyed our dinner experience wearing our yukatas.

Great Ryokan, unsuspecting from the outside but very spacious and well fitted. Breakfast was great (kaseki style) and the staff were extremely attentive and kind. They can even take you down to the nearby onsen on request.

The futons were comfortable, room was big, small onsen and friendly staff. The breakfast was wonderful and plentiful! The ryokan is almost next to a very big shrine but I didn’t have time to explore! We were told there is a hit sea water bath nearby but we didn’t bring bathing suits!

Everything was perfect. Our room was on the second floor and our luggage was arranged by the staff to be received and forwarded to our next accommodation seamlessly. Staff was professional, polite and very helpful. The onsen which we were brought to was amazing. The breakfast was also amazing. Even the staff clearing the used plates was mindful about the noise they were making. Which we appreciated and could enjoy the breakfast better. Thank you.
