“Peaceful and relaxing.”

Located 1 minute from the cable car station, it is easy to find - the ryokan is very comfortable and the owner and staff are very welcoming. There are two onsen and although they are relatively small they are perfect for one or two people. Breakfast is traditional Japanese fare, very fresh, tasty and filling. The local temple is about 10 minutes uphill from the ryokan if temples are on your list of things to do, this is a must-see place, beautiful, peaceful, reverential and absent of the hoards of tourists at Nara or Fushimi Inari, or Miyajima.

You need to like Japanese food and expecially breafast. Not for everibody, Buddist trail in the ascending Temple is a special experience given by the Riokan position.

Everything was great. The service, breakfast, and facility was excellent. It was great talking to the personnel, despite my lacking Japanese skills. They are very friendly and fun. The breakfast was a very nice washoku, and it was a lot of food. The view from the room lets you see an awesome view all over Ikoma. The baths are very nice and clean.

“Soft and slow Ikoma life”

The owners were incredibly nice and tried everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible! The view from the room was gorgeous and the baths were giant hot water baths like you would see in an onsen house. For any piano enjoyers, there is also a Piano you csn play in the lobby, the owners were happy to hear me play even though I have only been playing for less than a year.

It was the best experience in Japan! They took care of us very well. The ladies are the nicest people ever. The breakfast was delicious the rooms and the beds, really comfy. The views were spectacular. Everything was clean and well organised. We asked where can we rent kimonos, and they gave us great recommendations. I will come back for sure if I visit Japan again! Thank you so much for your hospitality.

Very good view over Ikoma and Nara, classic ryokan style room, very friendly hosts, nice hot baths, super close to the cable car, close to beautiful shrine.

It's my second time in this lovely ryokan. I love it all : the comfortable room and baths, the amazing view and of course, the kindness of the hosts. It is such a wonderful experience to stay there and walk to Hozan-ji temple at night.

“Magnificent!”

Kanko Ryokan is absolutely lovely. A traditional inn on a mountaintop with spectacular view. The tram ride up is fun, very Miyazaki :) Cozy and immaculate. Eiko and her mom and 2 poodles were welcoming and helpful. The private onsen was HOT and relaxing. Breakfast was a visual and tasty delight. Ikoma is a cool little hidden gem and the temple just above is magnificent and well worth a visit. It was my last night in Japan and I took the train from there to Osaka airport, very convenient. I hope to return and would recommend it to any traveller.

The staff was very kind, and everything in the room and surroundings made me feel the authentic experience I was looking for.

Excellent location. Quiet and relaxing atmosphere. The hosts where friendly and accommodating. The room was clean. The breakfast was tasty. Nice place to wind down after a busy week.

I felt very welcome, and the place and the facilities were great! I also really enjoyed the meal, the onsen and the beautiful view from out of my room. The location was also very convenient, near the cable car station and Hozan-ji. I would really love to visit again sometime!

The place is about an hour from Nara, very quiet and green. The family running the pace is absolutely lovely and helpful, it made the whole difference. Breakfast was good and the private onsen was free to use without reservation.

Intriguing location, welcoming and accommodating hosts (you're treated like family from the off), good facilities- lovely baths in particular, and delicious fresh breakfast daily. The view from the room is spectacular. Make time to walk up and see the beautiful Hozan-ji temple further up the mountain. It's a spectacular, spiritual place with magnificent views over the city.

Everything, staff was really welcoming, breakfast was fantastic, bath was really good, location while slightly far from any city center was located really close to the cable cart.
