The family were very welcoming. The room and balcony had a view of Lake Titicaca. Big rooms with ample power sockets. We ate Julia’s home cooked food in the evening. Julia demonstrated her weaving and Mario demonstrated his knitting skills on the last day.

Mario and his wife Julia and her sister Nati were absolutely lovely hosts. They took care of us, showing us the beautiful landscapes of the island, explaining and showing us their everyday life. Unlike our experience on the islands of Uros, we had the impression that we had a very authentic experience with them, as once the tourist boats left at 2 pm, only a few tourists were left at the island and we could really immerse into the everyday life of the inhabitants. I genuinely recommend this homestay to everyone who wants to have a very authentic experience on this rather quiet island.

Beautiful location. Our hosts Mario and Julia were so kind and welcoming and really made us feel at home. The food was delicious and the view of the lake was breathtaking and the island had many beautiful paths to hike. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay on Taquile Island.

The room had an amazing view on the sunrise and the lake. The hosts were super helpful and they prepared us a very good dinner and breakfast. Would really recommend to spend a night in taquile and stay at Mario and Julia.

Highly recommend staying at Marios!! It is a great way exploring the island apart from the touristic hustle and bustle. Mario will show you around the island and will tell you all about their traditions and way of living. The bed was really comfortable, you will have a hot shower and an amazing dinner cooked by Marios wife. It was a one of a kind experience!

Mario’s home is amazing, super cute and very clean. It is located very close to Taquile’s main square. Mario and his wife Juliana are the best host ever. Juliana helped us to bring our luggage uphill to their home. She was so helpful and strong! Mario also showed us the island around and both cooked nice dinner/breakfast for us. The rooms are basic but extremely clean and very cozy. We slept very well at night and enjoyed a lot our stay with Mario and Juliana!

Wonderful place. Our hosts were inpecable, and the island is a magical place. Would recommend for anyone to at least spend a night in Taquiles; a 2 hour tour simply is not enough.

It's not just an accomodation. You're in for a full island experience. Mario took us for walks around the island and told us all about its people, traditions and history. We very much enjoyed our stay.

We spent 2 nights at Hospedaje Mario in Taquile and it was an incredible and heart-warming experience! Mario and his wife Julia showed us around the island and taught us about the traditions, crafts and way of life of the people of Taquile. They were so welcoming, kind and helpful, and Julia cooked an amazingly delicious meal for us in the evenings! The room was simple but clean, with enough blankets to keep us warm on the cold nights. An unforgettable experience! We really enjoyed our stay at this homestay in Taquile and had the honour of experiencing life on this quiet and amazing island!

“Everything we wanted out of our stay on Taquile”

We had such a great time with Mario and Julia, and our stay at Isla Taquile wouldn't have been nearly as good without their company. Mario greeted us at the port when we arrived, and later in the day showed us around the island, explaining about inca ruins and answering all our questions about the culture and lifestyle of the people living on the island. Our room was clean and comfortable with many blankets, a table and chairs, and electric outlets (although Mario said only some of the rooms have this as of today). The shower was hot and Julia cooked us delicious food for dinner (additional cost) and breakfast (included in the booking). We also got to see a weaving demonstration by Julia, and bought some beautiful homemade textile crafts from them. There was spotty Entel reception on some parts of the island, but not in the village/accommodation; apparently Bitel works better on the island, but we didn't try it ourselves. We drank the water from the tank at their place with no issue, but they have boiled drinking water for guests if needed. I'd say some knowledge of Spanish is an advantage to get the most out of a stay here, as Mario and Julia speak Spanish and Quechua but not English. All in all an excellent way to get to experience the island and its culture!

Mario and his wife Julia are extremely nice and hospitable people who have explained and showed nearly all the Islands. The location is as well nicely placed near the very small centre.

One of our favorite stays in South America. Mario and his wife Juliana were so kind and accommodating. Juliana picked us up from the boat and Mario showed us around the entire island, informing us on history, culture, and fona and flora of the area. They also showed us local weaving. The room was beautiful and clean and we got to share a delicious dinner with the couple. I absolutely recommend this stay to anyone traveling to Puno area.
