The lovely hosts Celso and Juana were really kind and available, and the room itself was also nice. Keep in mind you’re going on an island in the middle of a lake, you should and can not expect a 4-star hotel treatment anywhere! Will definitely recommend them to friend that want to visit Taquile in the future.

We had a nice simple room and shared bathroom with hot (!) shower. Beds were comfortable with heavy but warm blankets. Decent breakfast is included, and a good dinner comes extra for 25 sol - highly recommended. As there is some elavtion gain to go from the island’s harbor to its village, we left most of our luggage in a Puno hotel and only took the essentials (incl. some warm cloths for the evening). Celso‘s house lies close to the main square of the island (5-10min walking distance), where we had lunch in San Santiago Restaurant, also visited by tour groups (meal for 30 sol). Getting to Isla Taquile and back to Puno, we joined recommended tour group from Joel/Samuel: Pick-up in Puno hotel at 7:00, then 1h30 visit to Uros, and arrival to Isla Taquile around 11:30. Left from the island harbor at 14:00 the next day (total 50 sol boat + 20 sol entrance fee for both islands). Overall easy journey but at the cost of getting exposed to the more touristic parts of lake titicaca (i.e. Uros + going with tour group + local music & dance performances). We would have rather preferred a local „boat collectivo“ going directly to the island.

We stayed one night in this wonderful location hosted by Celso family. He waited for us at the small harbour and guided to the house. After an amazing luncch, he explained us some history and tradition of the island through a walking tour up&down with amazing view and a relaxing atmosphere. Really recommended

“The most INCREDIBLE stay”

The most amazing little homestay on the most perfect island Taquile. Celso and his family were so welcoming, helping us with our bags, drawing a map of the island for us….. the meals were delicious, rooms were comfy. Very cold, so bring layers, and be prepared about 1K uphill to the home. Couldn’t have asked for a better stay.

Celso and Juana were extremely welcoming. Celso provides ample information on the people and culture of the island. He was also very helpful in organizing the pick up at our hotel in Puno.

Charming room with comfortable beds and tons of warm blankets. Delicious food- especially the soups. Celso and his wife were lovely and welcoming and generous with their time. We liked the cats too.

The family Celso was very kind. We stayed 2 nights at their place and we learned a lot about their culture. The food was amazing and the location very beautiful.

Very warm welcome from Juana and Celso. Nice and cosy place to stay and chill. Celso will guide you to the best spots of taquile island from Pachamama temple, inca ruins, best sunset spot, to playa. They are great host with big heart. I truly recommend staying with them. They will tell you everything about island history, tradition, and more! Just remember not taking all your luggage with you ...cause the island is hilly and the hike can be a bit challenging with heavy bags.

The family is so nice ! It was a really immersion in the community and the family! We learned so much about the Taquile island, the community, the daily life. Food is great ! No tourists after 3pm so you have the island for you and have a little hike to discover the rest of the island.

Celso and Juana are amazing host and we had a great time staying at their house. Celso came to the port to welcome us and shared a lot of advice for us to visit the island and understand its customs. The dinner and breakfast cooked by Juana were excellent. The room was comfortable with enough blankets to avoid being cold at night. The (shared) bathroom was very clean. Would totally recommend a stay at Celso House for a full immersion in Taquile island!
