We loved everything about our stay at Lazy Dog. Wayne and the whole team took great care of us and it was the perfect place to go exploring the surrounding valleys and also to rest and be well cared for.

The location, the staff, the food, the wooden fireplace. It's a fantastic place to wind down after a day of hiking (and escape the noise of the city). The staff will cater to your needs depending on what activities you have planned on the following day.

“Not quite what we expected!”

We only stayed here for one night after staying in Caraz for a few days and we were on our way back to Lima. This is a beautiful old property with loads of character and you can tell that Wayne and Diana have really made this their home over many years. It's a great place as a base for trekking into the nearby mountains and as we were only there for one night we weren't really able to appreciate this fully. We did do a fantastic hike on our one full day back from Laguna Llaca after getting a crazy taxi ride up there! The 'road' is amazing! We enjoyed the communal dinner but it obviously depends upon who you are communing with! Wayne and Diana were perfect hosts and they provide a great service and help regarding hiking and trekking in the area and they do a lot of community work too!

Very welcoming owners, excellent breakfast and dinners, large rooms. We stayed 5 days at the Lazy Dog and it felt like home thanks to the welcoming vibe of the staff. Excellent base to hike to Llaca or Churup. Excellent taxi service (to the airport or Huaraz, from where you can do a lot of trips). We definitely recommend the Lazy Dog for a few days to enjoy a real home feeling during your stay in Perú!

The owner was very helpful with suggestions of how to spend the full day we had. All the staff were lovely! Great meals included in the price and a lovely lounge with large log fire in the afternoon/evening.

Diana and Wayne have built a legacy of hospitality and fine home grown foods. The location although a little out of town is superb for either a acclimatisation hike or just to relax and revitalise .

Peaceful location with beautiful views and very comfy and warm beds. Beautiful sauna and delicious homemade food. Open fire in the lounge and bedroom was lovely.

Well, this is one of the very few occasions where the property largely exceeded our expectations. I travelled with my wife and daughter. Diana and Wayne were incredibly friendly and helpful. The staff was professionally trained and the facility really felt like home. The location is simply stunning, immersed in nature. The food was delicious, local and of great quality. On top of that I had to compete on a trail running international race and Diana and Wayne really helped me a lot ensuring everything I needed was arranged, from transportation to a lovely breakfast at 4am before the race. We stayed for a week at The Lazy Dog Inn and it was such a fantastic way to explore a little of the Cordillera Blanca. The owners and hosts, Diana and Wayne offer a very special experience for people who love getting out in nature and exploring this very unique part of the world. About 6 km up in the mountains above Huaraz, The Lazy Dog Inn is perfectly located to retreat from the hustle and bustle of a very big town. Many hikes are nearby and for those that are a little further away, the hosts have a great service with a local taxi company so transport is available to trailheads for a fixed price, removing all the transport hassles associated with getting to hikes, or needing to do tours. Information. Diana and Wayne have lived in the area for a long time and have wonderful information booklets for guests as well as many ideas and suggestions to individualise each guest’s trip. There is no big sell for any particular walks as there is downtown. instead there is honest feedback so that you can accurately assess what you might like to do. As well as several longer hikes and walks to local famous lagoons, we enjoyed walking down to Huaraz, catching local colectivos and learning about the local farmers living in surrounding communities - who were all very friendly and greet everyone in passing. Comfort. The Lazy Dog Inn is a relaxing haven. Hot fires every night. Wonderful breakfasts, dinners and packed lunches for hikes. The food is locally grown and absolutely delicious. Perfect for hungry hikers! All the staff are so friendly and helpful. We particularly enjoyed meeting the women from the local community who cooked for us everyday. Other travellers were friendly and were all doing such interesting things we also learnt heaps from them :) The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the beds are big and very warm, washing facilities for those staying longer etc etc. Nothing was too much trouble. We hope to come back 😀
