“Living in a fairy tale”

We felt like being in a fairy tale. Everything was perfect. We are coffee addicts and always ordered coffee. Someone is working there just to make you coffees whenever you want. We loved the two saunas. One with a Mountain View and the other one has a view onto fishes in a pond. The room was spacious and quiet and so cozy. It’s truly a special place. I cuddled the dogs a lot. Even if you are living in Cape Town it’s a dream to have a little getaway, because you feel like you are in a wonderland.

The breakfast was slightly pricey for what you get, but absolutely delicious—definitely worth it in the end. The location is perfect, surrounded by beautiful trees with breathtaking sunrise and sunset views. Every corner of Wonderland Cape Town has something quirky and magical to discover, which made our stay feel unique and memorable.

One of the most beautiful hotel I have ever stayed at, the house feels like a oasis inside the jungle, a work of art where the building combines in harmony with nature. We particularly liked all the facilities at the location, many seating areas, pool, jacuzzis, gym, sauna view aquarium views, fireplace, cozy living and working area.

We loved everything about this place! Staff, food, location, vibe, room, the dogs. Honestly 10/10

The location really is called Wonderland for a reason. It is so special it makes you forget the rest of the world instantly. Truly magical place.

“A great stay at Wonderland”

We had a wonderful stay at Wonderland! The welcome was incredibly warm, and we felt at home right away. The property and especially the garden are absolutely beautiful, with so many lovely and unique details. It was a truly great experience – we would definitely recommend it.

The quirkiness and very peaceful

We had a very disappointing stay and would not return. We had communicated our check-in time well in advance, letting the property know weeks ahead that we would arrive at 14:00. Despite this, upon arrival the private pools were completely empty. These pools were a key reason we booked this particular suite. We were told they were being filled, but by 17:00 they were still not even halfway full, which meant the pool was not usable at any point during our stay. Had this been communicated beforehand, we would have chosen another property. In addition, there was a strong and unpleasant stench coming from the thatched roof. This smell was persistent and significantly affected the comfort of the room. This issue was also not disclosed prior to arrival. Getting assistance was unexpectedly difficult. We were told staff would be available until 20:00, yet when we tried to reach someone around 17:00, no one responded. We could hear the phone ringing when calling reception, and later discovered the staff phone left unattended in the sofa seating area, explaining why no one answered — but also highlighting a lack of basic guest support. Service felt disorganised in other ways as well. For example, we ordered one pasta and were served two, which may seem minor but added to the overall sense of poor attention to detail. Rather than feeling relaxed, the experience was stressful. I slept very poorly and, honestly, we just wanted the stay to end. Cape Town and the surrounding area offer many excellent accommodation options. Based on our experience, you are far better off spending your money elsewhere.

“Very bad experience”

We had a very bad experience and would not recommend this place to anyone. On the day we checked in, there was a huge influencer event taking place with large crowds. We were not informed about this in advance - something that would have been fair and transparent before booking - and as a result we felt very unwelcome, as if we were interrupting someone else’s private party. On top of that, all facilities were overcrowded, even though we paid a significant amount of money specifically for a relaxing stay with spa and pool access. Our room had a private balcony and jacuzzi, yet people completely ignored this and repeatedly walked across our balcony and past our room, even after being told it was private. Very rude. The swimming pool was dirty, with cloudy, green water, and the jacuzzis were also unhygienic (our private one was cleaned by two very nice guys - that was kind) Being a guesthouse rather than a hotel is not a valid excuse for these issues. At this price point, a much higher standard of privacy, hygiene, and communication should be expected. Overall, this was a huge disappointment and a waste of our time, experience, and the hundreds of euros we spent. PS: We raised these concerns with the staff, but no solution was offered.

It’s the most unique and wonderful place we’ve stayed at by far. The whole property is stunning and rooms are beautifully designed with so much detail. The staff was lovely and breakfast was great. The room (we stayed in the Smaragd suite) was gorgeous.

Magical setting and beautiful interior design!

It’s a unique location and very beautiful. I like the 24 hour access to facilities and very spacious room. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

“Uncomfortable and overpriced”

Unique architecture/design as shown in the photos, good location and beautiful views of mountain scenery. Easy access to local sights and amenities by car. If you are looking for a hostel/group party sort of venue this would probably be fine.

“Good idea but disappointing on the cleanliness”

It’s such a feat of architecture and so unique. It had so many amazing things in it, all in 1 family home that was built in the early 2000s. The Koi pond all around the foundations, the huge living area with a gorgeous fireplace was so romantic, the clamshell sinks in the eternal suite and the view were stunning! The dogs were sooo sweet and lovely. The gym was fab!

“Fascinating place, a really unique and special experience.”

Incredibile property - it really personifies its name “Wonderland”. There is so much to explore and discover with lots of space to relax and feel at home too. Finding out it was built as someone’s home was fascinating, and it’s quite unique in the fact that it still feels and is being operated like a guesthouse, with shared kitchen, lounge and communal areas. I could have spent longer here. The main girl on reception (who is also one of the spa therapists) was lovely, made us welcome and clearly cared about the property and our whole experience.
