Overview
Hotel Oostereiland is a renovated prison building, boasting a unique Markermeer lake-side location. It offers rooms, some set in the former jail cells, with free Wi-Fi and private bathrooms. Featuring the original cell doors, the rooms are cosy decorated from the inside with modern furnishings and a work desk. Each has a private bathroom with free toiletries provided. Guests can enjoy a drink or meal at the restaurants terrace, located on the prison’s courtyard. From Oostereiland Hotel, it’s just 500 metres to the historic centre of Hoorn. The train station, offering connections to Amsterdam, is 1.2 km away.

“Something special!”

Very thin wall/communicating locked door between rooms which allows noise from neighbour to come through. If your neighbour is snoring you'll enjoy the full concerto...

We had a lovely view of the water and the river cruise boats. A short walk into town. The tea and coffee facility was appreciated. A picturesque location.

“Perfect location in a beautiful town but do upgrade your room.”
Full of character and very quirky. Our “lux” room was very good with a seating area, bedroom, bathroom and dressing area. The location could not be better and we appreciated that this was one of the only places we stayed in the whole of the Netherlands that didn’t charge for parking.

“Nice hotel in superb location”
Great location, easy parking. The hotel itself is very quirky(former prison) but it’s been converted sympathetically to retain many original features. Rooms not big but comfy. Nice breakfast.

Fantastic location alongside the lake and walking distance to old city centre of Hoorn. Also, fun to say you stayed in a former prison! The staff was wonderful! We visited for Ironman 70.3 Westfriesland and as participants this is highly recommended location.
