“The perfect accomodation!”

The location was so idyllic, the staff were all so incredibly lovely, the onsens on the river were so peaceful, the buffet dinner and breakfasts were a wonderful mix of Japanese and western options. The interiors were all beautifully designed, quiet, clean. The room had views of the river and was just beautiful. It was all absolutely perfect.

“Convenient and relaxing stay”

Convenient to the Kumano Kodo and Hongu Shrine with a hotel shuttle. The outside Onsen on the river was great after a long day of hiking.

“Quite the memorable stay!!”

Well located for both the bus to Tanabe and also the local bus routes. The outdoor onsen was truly memorable. Our room was very roomy and comfortable. Free drinks and snacks were available each day for extended cocktail hours with elegant yakata supplied, so quite the experience. We stayed several days and chose to do day walks on the Kumono Kodo - and our stay was perfect for this.

We loved the place and it was the highlight of our two weeks trip in Japan! The room was comfortable with amazing river view and the offered dinner and breakfast was really good. We would love to come back.

“Easy access by direct bus, great facilities.”

Easy access to Hongu and Kii-Tanabe by direct bus. Wonderful buffet dinner and breakfast. Large room and bathroom with all toiletries and yukata provided. Access to Kawayu Onsen. Provided free shuttle to/from Kumano Hongu Taisha and to Hosshimon-Oji. Clean, secure and friendly staff.

We liked the hotel, and its outdoor onsen was beautiful.

“Wonderful stay”

Newly renovated. Next to the river. Friendly and helpful staff. Spacious room. Nice onsen. Delicious food.

The hotel itself is fantastic. Occupies prime position on the river bank, with stunning views over the river from the guest rooms. The interior is modern, clean, well maintained, but still retains a traditional Japanese aesthetic. The Japanese style room we stayed in was spacious, including the internal bathroom, and there was a lovely a sitting area overlooking the river. The windows open so you can let the fresh air in and enjoy the sounds of the river (during the day, there's a warning not to open the windows at night as there's no fly screens and the area is "overflowing with nature"). They serve buffet dinner and breakfast, which is rare in these small onsen towns, but something of a necessity for my partner and I who have complex and conflicting dietary requirements which usually mean that a traditional kaiseki style Japanese meal isn't feasible for us. They do include some Japanese style appetisers (yakiniku, sashimi, etc) with dinner too, which were delicious, but not enough to make a meal on their own. (for the record, you NEED to eat dinner at your accomodation, none of the local restaurants are open for dinner). The indoor baths are well appointed, lots of washing bays, nice hair/body products, etc. The water temperature was good for me (quite hot), and the water itself had the lovely silky feel of mineral-rich spring water. If you walk down to the river, you can actually find places along the river bed where hot water vents into the river. Staff were very well mannered and helpful, not a hint of the "what are you doing here, gaijin?" attitude that you often get in small onsen villages (thought I later learned why...). There's a small souvenir store in the lobby if you want to pick up something local, and a vending machine that sells hagen das ice cream if you want a late night sweet treat. They also had a happy hour around check in time with complimentary wine and coffee, etc.

We stayed in the only suite and were treated very well. All drinks were included, as well as dinner and breakfast.

The staff was great, very friendly and professional with excellent english. In particular メイダシンヌェ stood out. She really thought ahead and went above and beyond. Excellent culinary experience and a neat little onsen. I will definitely come back

“A great choice if you want a larger hotel.”

Overall excellent stay. The buffet breakfast and dinner were very good. I fact the dinner was excellent with individual hot pot and sashimi waiting at our table with our dietary requirements met. Very handy for the bus stop and swimsuits available if you want to use the outdoor mixed onsen.
