The rooms are simple, clean and very comfortable. It is incredibly peaceful. The breakfast buffet was fresh and hearty. The staff were wonderfully welcoming. If you want to wake up inside a literal castle, surrounded by the misty canyons of Saxon Switzerland, Herberge Burg Hohnstein is an absolute hidden gem.

Amazing view from the burg, with easy access to hikes. Very testy hotel breakfast with vegetarian options. Hotel is clean. Staff is polite. There is a parking in front of the hotel.

“Castle paradise”
The staff were super nice and I had a pleasant stay. The room and food were great, with amazing views and history! Felt quite spooky being the only one staying in the castle, thankfully saw no ghosts!

The hostel in the castle - it is super unique and the view from the room is amazing. The breakfast is excellent - very delicious and lot of food.

“Great stay in great setting”
What a location! Btw you get what you pay for: its a hostel Type of place. Bear that in mind and you will be fine and happy. Totally clean, everyone was very welcoming too! I felt totally at ease and at home there.

“Exceptional experience- the stay in a castle”
The stay was just perfect. Turning an old castle into the authentic hotel facility is a tremendous idea. View from a tower of the castle, facilities like beer garden and restaurant, superb breakfast, free parking lot, flexible check-in hours made our stay pleasant. Highly recommended!

If you are looking for a nature escape this is the place. Just come prepare since at 19 pm everything is close. People in this town are so nice! I didn't found any English speaker but it was manageable to communicate with people. They were glad to help with anything. Recommend 100%

“Would definitely recommend!”
Breakfast was really good, especially the omelette. Staff was very friendly. Me and my friend were given a room with two bunk beds (so 4 in total) and we had the room for ourselves. Hohnstein castle is an amazing location, the view from the walls is absolutely wonderful!

Everything is impressive. Thew surrounding views are gigantic. Specially the view from room was extraordinary. Very calm. Bathroom and toilets are separated. Breakfast was also very good. Value for money and satisfaction.
