Beautiful lodge with the most welcoming and friendly staff. Everyone seemed genuinely happy to work there. The rooms were lovely the food was ample, varied and very good quality and there was always the offer of another drink. The game drives were exceptional and Gareth and James were the best guide and tracker who made our trip unforgettable, showing us the Big 5 on our first drive.

We loved every minute of our stay of 4 nights at Tomo Safari Lodge. The staff were so lovely and our guide Jason was so knowledgeable and calm. We felt completely safe with him and we saw some amazing things on Safari. His tracker Pete was also great. The Lodge is beautiful with a lovely Cabana to watch the sunset if you are not on Safari. Nothing was too much trouble and the Lodge went above and beyond to help us celebrate a special Birthday. Tomo Is such a wonderful private lodge to visit as there are only 9 rooms and 2 game drive jeeps so it is not busy with lots of vehicles. We would love to return one day.

“Amazing Stay but Tipping Policy Felt Uncomfortable”

The hotel is stunning! The rooms are big, super clean, and really comfortable. The view from the terrace is just incredible and they provide board games. What really made the stay special was the team. Our ranger, Jandré, was fantastic! He’s so knowledgeable and passionate, and he shared so many interesting things. Tania also seems great, and overall the staff has such a good vibe, which makes the whole experience even better. Honestly, I loved every moment and would definitely recommend it!

We have just spent the most incredible 4 days at Tomo Safari Lodge as part of our honeymoon. The safari - Our guide JD really made our stay so special, he was friendly and educational and by the end of day 1 already felt like a friend of ours. Throughout each drive he was highly professional and respectful to the animals and we always felt in safe hands whilst being able to closely view these magnificent animals in their natural habitat. JD was very knowledgable and always provided explanations and thorough answers to our questions. The vehicles were clean and comfortable and well maintained. The Lodge - Our room was spotless clean and well kitted out, turned down twice per day whilst we were on game drives and the beds were very comfortable. The staff really do go above and beyond to ensure you’re having the best time. The whole time at the lodge is so serene and relaxing that for the first time in years we felt completely at peace. Sitting on a sun lounger enjoying a beer whilst watching animals feeding and drinking is truly remarkable. Food and drink - WOW! The chefs really knocked it out the park at each meal, breakfast lunch and dinner were excellent and the drinks selection has everything you could possibly need. You will not be hungry! Location - 10/10. Short drive from Hoedspruit airport yet you feel a million miles from anyone else. The safari landscapes are beautiful and ever changing, each area offering different views from the other. On the game drives you barely see another vehicle the whole day unlike some places where you see multiple vehicles parked around an animal. We would recommend Tomo to anyone looking for a safari and we would definitely return in the future. Thank you!

Our stay at Tomo Safari Lodge was absolutely perfect – just as beautiful as the pictures, if not even better. The staff were incredibly kind and welcoming, unlike anything we’ve experienced before. The food was delicious, and although we are vegan, they catered to us with ease and so much care (we had mentioned it in advance). Our guide Jaundre impressed us with his knowledge, charm, and deep respect for the animals. We were lucky enough to see not only the Big 5, but also the “Magnificent 7” – with cheetah and African wild dog – and all sightings were private and respectful, with a maximum of two jeeps. The lodge itself is small, personal, and international – we met such interesting and friendly guests and felt at home immediately. Truly an unforgettable stay, and we are already planning our return!

The game drives were just amazing, Tanya was so helpful and knowledgeable, as well as being just a great person. Pete, our tracker was fantastic too. The food, service and everything about this Lodge was just perfect in every way.

We stayed at Tomo Safari Lodge for three nights and had an absolutely excellent experience. The food was outstanding, and every meal felt special. The staff, particularly Sipho and Alphod were incredible—nothing was ever too much trouble, and they were always ready to help with a smile. The safari drives with Tanya were a real highlight. She was hugely knowledgeable about every aspect of the bush, from the big animals to the smallest details of the fauna and flora, and she shared fascinating insights throughout each drive. A truly unforgettable stay—we can’t recommend Tomo Safari Lodge highly enough!

“Amazing lodge, we’ll be back”

Fabulous place, as soon as you arrive you feel comfortable. The staff are great and the food is phenomenal. Water hole in front of the deck was regularly visited by numerous animals. All the staff were wonderful people, not only those we had most contact with such as hospitality Angel, Paige, chef Alex and our amazing guide Driska, but also all the behind the scene ninjas that keep everything clean and running.
