The location is fantastic and the wildlife in the estate is fantastic. You need to walk around and enjoy it . You need a good camera to safe these amazing encounters. Just remember that you in a wild environment and have respect for the wildlife as the animals are not pets.

Lucky us to meet Deon and Sue!! - fantastic people running a gorgeous B'n'B lodge very close to the heart of Hoedspruit. We loved them! They made such a warm landing for our first night in South Africa. Call of the Wild Lodge is a gorgeous, architecturally designed home, with a briliant outdoor lounge where you can sit and chat. The beautiful, comfortable appartment we stayed in looked out on a lovely garden full of birds and flowers. Three whip-smart Jack Russel dogs are the spirit inhabiting this home, one sitting hilariously on the head rest of the large surround couches in the open air lounge,to listen in on our conversations. Game of many kinds can be witnessed passing the fence at the bottom of the garden, a great first taste of Greater Kruger, if you are heading into the bush. What makes this a different experience is that Call of the Wild backs on to a Green Belt full of animals but excluding the Big Five. This means you can walk unattended through this gorgeous section of bush experiencing encounters with Giraffe, Kudu, Warthogs and orfher bush animals WITHOUT needing a gun toting guide! You literally cant do this on Safari out in the concessions, where you can feel a bit regimented, trapped and unable to exercise. So COTW truly offers a different, prescious experience to add to your bucket list --- of being able to walk freely and stumble with out fear over animals, observing them from near. I imagine this aspect would be perfect for families with children. While walking, I encountered Deon and his band of dogwalking friends as they traversed the green belt. They invited me to walk with them, giving me a glimpse of their local-life here. Joyous really! They kindly gave me flora and fauna tips - a precious experience. These are loving people with a passion for this magic place. I feel very lucky to have shared that walk and had a window into their world. Beds and bathroom were very comfortable. Call of the Wild in Hoedspruit is an absolutely stunning place to stay. The owners are incredibly friendly and go above and beyond to make your stay special — even arranging a fantastic dinner reservation for us, which turned out to be one of our best meals. The breakfast was delicious, and every detail felt thoughtful and welcoming. We will most certainly be back!

If I could give Deon and Sue more than 10/10, I would. We found ourselves in a desperate situation needing a true 23rd-hour booking, and they welcomed us with open arms, turning a highly stressful afternoon into an absolute highlight of our trip. They are undoubtedly among the kindest and most accommodating hosts we have ever met. ​The accommodation itself is spectacular. Our chalet was huge and immaculately decorated with tasteful, high-end African touches that clearly show no comforts were spared. The beds were superbly comfortable, providing exactly the rest we needed after a long day on the road. ​The next morning, the breakfast was exceptional—featuring a perfectly made, quick vegetarian stir-fry and absolutely delicious coffee. The cherry on top was the incredibly kind and sincere chat we had with Deon and Sue afterwards. They generously shared their local knowledge, helping us build an amazing to-do list of local attractions for our next trip to Hoedspruit. ​Do not hesitate to book here. We will absolutely be back!

We booked this as a sleepover from a long flight before heading onto safari. Thanks to the owners, we visited the local Xmas fair and had a lovely meal (normally be a 5-10 min taxi to town and back). There are 50 eateries to choose from locally plus some really lovely local shops to buy gifts. The accommodation is quiet and comfortable in the middle of nowhere with wildlife passing. We slept SO well. Breakfast was lovely. I would book it again. There are multiple trips from Hoedspruit itself, i.e., safari, balloon flights, etc, so staying here longer should certainly be a consideration.

The whole experience was amazing. Sue & Deon were so welcoming and informative. The breakfast was delicious and beautifully presented. The room was spacious and private with an outside view. We had warthogs and kudu right in front of our bedroom. The wildlife was a great surprise and a joy to watch whilst eating. The sound of the birds and the freedom to go for a walk was amazing.
