“Amazing African Rock Lodge”

I had such a lovely stay in African Rock Lodge. From the moment I arrived, the welcome was truly warm and made me feel at home right away. The staff were so kind and attentive, which made the whole experience even more special. The room was very comfortable, clean, and peaceful perfect for relaxing after a day out. And you can check in the lovely restaurant just in 5-10 minute... the most memorable parts was being able to see animals so easily… spotting giraffes nearby was just amazing and felt so unique. Overall, it was a beautiful experience, and I would definitely love to come back again 🤍

The lodge was absolutely brilliant - can’t recommend highly enough. Our hosts went out of their way to accommodate us and even made multiple trips to the airport to collect us after we had a diverted flight. They were brilliant and we were overjoyed with the way they handled a very stressful situation for us.

Selected because on a wildlife reserve we were delighted to have sightings of both male and Female Nyala and watching a family of banded mongoose from our balcony. We took both evening and early morning walks into the reserve and enjoyed seeing birds and animals on both. Sander(the owner) collected us from the Airport and returned us the following day for the start of our safari, he did not simply leave us to find our onward transport but sought them out for us. We enjoyed chatting about his family's life and the very harsh impact of Covid in South Africa.

The staff are the nicest team I’ve ever stayed with, incredibly hospitable, kind, friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. The rooms, dining terrace, Braii and fire pit and pool area are all amazing, with wildlife on your doorstep. The food was incredible, both the Meats on the Braii and the air dishes and lunches. Thanks so much to Sander, Juliette & the team, having stayed all over the globe in many places this is up there with the very very best.

Such a gem. The animals come right onto the property. The layout of the complex was lovely, with a welcoming fire next to the braai area. The food was delicious and the staff very friendly.

Perfect start to the South Africa trip. Spend two nights: one evening walk in the reserve, seeing giraffes by foot. Next day roadtrip to blyde river canyon which is nearby. Every evening finished off with a braai. I can confirm other reviews, and say that it was the best food I’ve had during the three weeks in South Africa. 🇿🇦 thanks again sander for the lovely stay!

“Magical place for relaxing family stay”

The place is simply magical. Coming from a big city, this was such a blast to experience nature and tranquility. Location is convenient for exploring Blyde river canyon and also in the middle of a wildlife reserve where you can walk or cycle when you are taking a break from safari drives. We enjoyed evenings by the fire with a glass of wine. The hosts Sander and Juliette are amazing and are going above and beyond to make your stay memorable. The food was great, especially dinners - best quality meals we had during our trip - much better than in a luxury safari lodge where we stayed after this place.

The hosts were so friendly and helpful. I'm interested in birds and I could walk down to a beautiful bird hide, just down the road. The food was really good and I loved my room!! I would highly recommend this place for a quiet and peaceful stay with sitting around the fire in the evenings and watching the stars.
