Absolutely stunning location when we were there and the sun shinning. Did not see much of the hotel as we were in the annex but what a view to wake up to. Breakfast was excellent.

The location by the fjord overlooked by mountains is fabulous. The buffet evening meal was gourmet standard. The sauna by the fjord was a nice option The owners and staff are charming

Amazing views and very quiet surroundings. Postcard village. We love Hjele hotel, a nice traditional family ownwd hotel, we feel always welcomed. I recommend sauna and a refreshing swim in cool glaciar water.

Nice and helpful staff. Dinner was good, but there are no alternatives though

Absolutely stunning location, with amazing views of the fjord and snowcapped mountains. Hotel itself lovely with friendly staff and a very good breakfast. We especially loved the many authentic elements and decor it has retained since its opening 130 years ago!

Hjelle Hotel is a phenomenal place to stay. I don’t have words to describe how perfect our stay was there. The owners are very lovely and helpful people, it was clean, breakfast was tasty and had a lot of options to choose from. The area is outstanding, there are hiking trails and the lake has a beautiful colour. Definately will be back in the future

Everything! The hosts and staff gave exceptional hospitality in this delightful family-run hotel. We stayed two nights in a very comfortable motel room overlooking the mountains and fjord. The buffet dinner is well worth booking - the food was delicious and plentiful and we enjoyed learning about the hotel from the hosts’ introduction. The facilities and location of the hotel are superb- you can borrow the hotel’s rowing boat and sunbathe/swim by their little beach area. They have a sauna too and you can hire kayaks. The best place we have stayed on our journey across Norway.

“Astounding location”

Astounding location on the shore of the Oppstrynsvatnet lake, narrowly surrounded by mountains that make it looking more like a fjord. Very peaceful and quiet area, where one can have all kinds of nice outdoor activities. Nice breakfast. Good paying buffet dinner, with a varied choice. Excellent welcoming by owner and staff. We had an OK room in the separate motel building, for a reasonable price.
