Overview
Located in the Hiraizumi World Heritage, Shizukatei offers Japanese-style accommodations and indoor/outdoor public hot spring baths. A free shuttle is available from JR Hiraizumi Train Station, which is a 15-minute drive away and must be reserved at time of booking. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. A TV and fridge are included in each and Japanese Yukata robes are provided for all guests. Each room comes with a private toilet, while bathrooms are shared with other guests. Shizukatei Ryokan is a 10-minute drive from Chuson-ji Temple and Motsu-ji Temple. JR Ichinoseki Train Station is a 40-minute drive away. Traditional multi-course dinners feature sushi, soba noodles and Maezawa beef dishes. A Japanese set-menu is offered for breakfast and all meals are served at the dining room. Local products are sold at the souvenir shop and drink vending machines are on site. Free parking is available on site.

“Excellent food, way out in the countryside”
Very friendly and hospitable staff. The food served at dinner and breakfast was excellent! Great quality and generous quantity. The ryokan was quiet and located out in the countryside. WiFi worked well.

“Great ryokan near Hiraizumi!”
Everything was great, really enjoyed my stay in Shizukatei. Room was great and very comfortable, Baths are also great and the surroundings are beautiful and very quiet. They have a transport service and picked me up from the train station, it is just a 10mins drive. Both dinner and breakfast were delicious and very high quality. Team was really nice, very patient and helpful. Highly recommended!

“If you just want to relax for a few days I can think of few better places.”
The amenities are great, the staff friendly, polite, and extremely accommodating. The food is outstanding - generous portions, extraordinary variety and really fresh as a lot of it is grown in the hotel garden. The location is a little out of Hiraizumi but it doesn’t matter - there’s a shuttle, and the location is serene and beautiful. Also the onsen is amazing!

“Quiet stay with excellent breakfast”
Its a remote location, but close to one of the most beautiful temples. The hotel staff is very friendly, but it helps if you speak a bit of Japanese. The breakfast was outstanding, and the public bath was very nice.

“Enjoyable ryokan experience with great food near Hiraizumi”
Fantastic dinner and breakfast at a reasonable price improved this ryokan. Room was nicely decorated and peaceful. Facilities were modern, including a massage chair. Staff were very polite and helpful.

“A very pleasant place to end your day”
The inn was located in a very quiet location surrounded by rice fields. They offered pick up service from the station (check the pick up times and make sure you book). Amazing dinner was served in your room (a very Japanese fare) and Japanese breakfast in the dining area. you can order drinks in your room or there was a soft drink vending machine available. The public bath area was clean and the outdoor bath was very pleasant. It was a perfect way to finish our day in Hiraizumi.
