Spaciousness of the property, cleanliness, modern look and most of all the homeliness. Everything exceptional. The host is wonderful and warm. Special touch she gives her guests with fresh flowers, welcome note and a treat!

Spent Christmas with the family. A true home away from home. Beautiful garden,spacious rooms and very much child friendly. A very quiet neighbourhood, felt very safe. Shops within close proximity. Even sites like Howick falls and Mandela capture site are not too far. And the hosts? Definitely with the most. Loved every minute. Highly recommend.

We absolutely loved staying here. We were in awe of the beautiful garden, which felt so relaxing and peaceful to walk in or to even just sit on the verandah and look at it. The cottage had everything we needed and loved how thoughtful Marita was. We had arrived much later than initially planned, which worried us, but Marita was so accommodating and went beyond our expectations of feeling welcomed. She had started a fire for us, there were freshly cut flowers with my name written on a board, and even a slab of chocolate next to it - what a nice surprise all of that was. She spent time walking around with us, answering all our questions about her plants, (even sharing some with us to take home) but the best part was watching her play with my son and hearing him laugh so much. Marita, we really appreciate everything you did, and we would like to thank you for all your care during a very difficult time for our family. If we ever need to be in Hilton again, we will be staying here.

Lovely place to stay. We basically used it as a basis to sleep at, and doing other activities most of the day and both evenings we were there, but it would have very easily made a nice 'getaway' weekend accommodation to chill out and enjoy some time with family/friends. Nice quiet set-up, spacious, lovely garden. It even has a fireplace, which would make that setup gold in winter time. If we ever go to Pietermaritzburg/Hilton again, we'd definitely stay there again.

Elvandar Country Cottage is a lovely, homely cottage set in the most beautiful garden with an amazing view - It's the perfect place to unwind! Marita was so welcoming and very accommodating of our needs. The supply of the things most often forgotten and her personal touches were really appreciated.

The host was amazing, friendly and so accommodating. Although, we experienced electricity problems, the host went to extremes to make us feel comfortable. I absolutely loved my stay and hope to be back there sometime soon in the future to enjoy the place a bit more.

Beautifully crafted cottage with a stunning view. We loved the peaceful valley and the local bird life. The cottage is stylish, well equipped and baby friendly. We enjoyed using this as a base to visit all that the Natal Midlands have to offer. Highly recommended
