Charming Ryokan

A very traditional Ryokan needing some TLC. Perfect hot bath. Confortable futon. Asked for a kettle and received a thermos full of hot water and some tea.

Worth it.

We were upgraded to a bigger room and it was extremely spacious by Japanese standards. The house is pretty old and the stay was a time machine - 60s or 70s of last century. Tatami, art, shoji, woodwork, etc. You should go for it if you want to experience an old Japanese ryokan without breaking your bank account. Driving us to the train station was a nice touch. Paid breakfast was sufficient. A great traditional bath was a joy. No noise issues whatsoever.

Authentic Japanese experience

This hotel is fantastic way beyond my expectations. I could live like a Japanese landlord 200 years ago.. the room where I slept it was not a room but a full apartment and it looked like a museum. Indeed, all furniture was 200 years old. The stuff was so kind so helpful they lended me for free a bicycle and even they gave a free lift to the railway station at the end of my stay. In front of the hotel, there is an old fish market so it’s an experience when you jump back into the time. I feel pity that I haven’t booked for more nights here , absolutely worth the price. And the extra is the two beautiful interior gardens What you can admire from your room. Don’t hesitate to book here!

Absolutely beautiful classic ryokan. Our room was a mini palace, delightfully decorated, with garden views. The host is very kind and welcoming and the location is within easy walking distance to the old town, many restaurants and Hikone Castle. A gem.
