Lovely place to stay, run by a hospitable, friendly couple. They will help you to arrange a taxi to the airport and I’m sure all the other things too if you need something! Next to the beach and restaurants, yet in quiet street. The best place I stayed in Sri Lanka. Cute spots around the premises to relax. Tack så mycket!

Welcoming, friendly, informative, helpful. There were lovely spaces on the property to relax in comfort. All staff were fabulous. We enjoyed the short walk to the beach for morning swims. They did whatever they could to help us achieve what we wanted. We felt cared for as guests.

Sophie’s House is a hidden gem in Hikkaduwa. Nestled off the main road, but in the central location, walkable to all the best cafes and restaurants and beach. Ali and Sophie are the most welcoming and friendly hosts, we had a great time getting to know them! They helped us organise our transport to the airport too! The rooms are the cleanest we stayed in out of everywhere during our month long stay in Sri Lanka, very spacious and equipped with everything you could possibly need - fridge, kettle, drying racks, great bathroom, wardrobe with hangers, bedside table and reading lamps, complimentary teabags, bananas and water! We only had 2 nights here but wish we could have stayed longer! Thank you so much for everything 🌟

“Perfect blend of Scandinavian and Sri Lankan hospitality”

This place combines the best of Scandinavian and Sri Lankan hospitality and has a great vibe. It’s very nicely decorated, equipped with everything you might need and spotlessly clean. The owners are so friendly, helpful and simply great people to talk with. They also have me great tips on what to enjoy in Hikkaduwa. Overall, I had a wonderful time here and would certainly love to come back.

I would like to share my wonderful experience staying at Sophie House in Sri Lanka. From the moment I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms by the incredibly warm and hospitable hosts. It truly felt like I was staying with family rather than at a guesthouse. Throughout my stay, the hosts went above and beyond to ensure that I had everything I needed and that I was comfortable in their home. They were always available to answer any questions I had and offered helpful tips and advice on local culture and activities. One of the highlights of my stay was the opportunity to spend time with the hosts and learn more about their life in Sri Lanka. We shared meals together and had many fascinating conversations about the history, traditions of this beautiful country. The accommodations at Sophie House were also top-notch. My room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated. I felt right at home from the moment I stepped inside. Overall, I cannot recommend Sophie House highly enough. If you are looking for a warm, welcoming, and authentic Sri Lankan experience, look no further. The hosts truly go above and beyond to make their guests feel at home and I am grateful for the memories and friendships I made during my stay. This is such a beautiful place. The owners are just amazing, really taking care for their guests. It is like being part of the family. The guesthouse is very modern, well located for the beach and restaurants around, a little paradise. Everything is well maintained and very clean. I will be back for sure.

One of the best places I have been to. Very clean and nice environment. Beds were very comfortable. Rooms are very nice and well planned and very clean. Ali and Lillan are very friendly and helpful. Enjoyed their company. As soon as you enter the property, you get surprised by the wonderful garden and the surrounding. A relaxing place with few minutes walk to the beach. Nice restaurants nearby. Loved the place and will definitely go back again.

The owners (Swedish/ Sri Lankan couple) and the staff are truly gems. it felt immediately like home because you will be welcomed super great. there where evenings where we were invited to sit down with them and have nice chats and some food and drinks (if you want to). You can feel the good souls here. On top of that everything was clean (they cleaned daily) and well equipped, there is a big garden and a nice roof top. Since I’ve had to work on my laptop they provided me also with a desk in the room. You will be living perfectly located some meters behind the road (so it’s nice and quiet) but at the same time after some short steps directly in the heart of hikkaduwa and to the beach just across the road. I highly recommend and will be probably coming Back again too :)

One of the best places during my 2 month of traveling in Sri Lanka. Well equipped, very clean rooms, beautiful rooftop terrace where you can hang out. This place is very quiet even though it’s in the middel of Hikkaduwa. The beach is only 2-3 minutes walking distance away. And Lillan and Ali are the best hosts you could ever ask for. You will feel at home the moment you walk in!

All three of the guys running this place are amazing. So helpful. Rooms are perfect with lots of details thought of, cleaned every day. Fridge and kettle in the room with tea and coffee. Hosts allow you to use their kitchen also. Plenty of places to work with a lovely garden and roof terrace. We extended just like everyone else who stays here!

“BEST OF THE BEST!”

What an amazing place. Me and my friend found this place by a miracle and this place exceeded all of our expectations as soon as we walked through the gates. First of all, the family running the place are the nicest and most sincere people you can meet while traveling. Here are a few highlights that could help anyone traveling pick this place out of the whole bunch: - spacious, comfortable and clean rooms. And when I say clean - I really mean that! - the rooms are well decorated, very comfortable and have everything you would need, including beach towels! - huge windows! - the whole territory is very well taken care of! - everywhere is super super quiet! - the place also has an awesome rooftop with sun-beds and comfortable chairs to chill out in the evening or during the day! - clean clean clean and once again clean bathrooms with running hot water! - and I know I mentioned this but the hosts as well as their staff are truly amazing. They willingly help their guests with anything and everything. Drivers/tuktuks/recomendations of places where to eat/ where&how to go and etc. It's hard to describe with words what an amazing place this is. We have been traveling 1,5months in Sri Lanka, and this is by far the best place we stayed at. Truly, best of the best - I really recommend it to everyone who is now going through booking and looking for a quiet place to stay at. Once we're back in Hikkaduwa - this is the one and only place we're ever gonna be staying at.

I was traveling SL 1 month and this was hands down one of my best stays, the rooms had everything you could ask for and was sanitary cleaned! The owners Ali and Lillan made me feel so welcome and was so helpful with recommendations and directions to restaurants and what not. So if you want accommodations that makes you feel like home, this is the place for you!
