“Quite and friendly place with amazing service.”

Pool, staff are very nice. We bought some prawns and fruits and they helped us cook and cut. The guy at the bar (Kalu?) is the nicest guy ever. Andrea owner is also super nice and always check on you that everything is good. You can also take kayaks and go to the lake (we didn’t but other guests enjoyed that)

“Feeling like a goddess”

Surprisingly, more beautiful, nicer staff plus host, remoter and a far more relaxed environment than expected. At first sight, I was afraid to live to far away from the beach, restaurants and shops to be able to buy whatever is needed. As a matter of fact, we didn't miss anything. We were able to order food delivery from nearby restaurants brought straight to our terrace. Actually directly in the city it would be far too noisy and stressful for me to be. The breakfast served by Andrea of Shiva Resort was rich and plenty of variety, after I had been not able to eat until dinner time. For dinner to get a tuk tuk driving me to the centre for some shopping,changing money and dining was easy arranged by Shiva staff members who are always helping you with a smile. Costs approx 2000 LKR to go and return, the driver picks you up where he dropped you off, at the time of your convenience. Shiva has European standards concerning cleaning. The bungalows are closing properly, nothing crawls or creeps in between or underneath. The bed is a futon which is for my back more comforting. The bathroom is open but with proper moskitonets sealed, plus spacey enough for two people to shower at once. Also the cupboard has space for enough clothes. Thoroughly enjoying was laying on the bed, looking through wide windows onto a serene swimming pool of the size and impression like a small lake, fitting into the nature. Just in the pool one could swim, impossible in the lake. But the lake you can conquer with a boatsman and his boat, enjoying the wildlife from a safe place.... We started our Sri Lanka trip at Shiva Sunrise Resort and we are looking forward, after a few weeks traveling through Sri Lanka, to end our trip exactly where it started. Our last two weeks we will be enjoying Andrea and her staffs hospitality again, the great breaky, amongst remote, tranquil Sri Lankan environment, relaxation at its best.

“Outstanding”

After a busy first week exploring Sri Lanka and watching cricket, we chose to slow things down for our second week and stay at Shiva Sunrise Resort and it was the perfect decision. From the moment we arrived, we were met with the warmest welcome from Andrea, Shaman, Kalu , Adishe and of course Charlie the dog. We were shown around the beautiful grounds before being taken to our cabana, set in a stunning lakeside location. The cabanas are simple yet truly beautiful , thoughtfully designed with everything you need. Each morning, breakfast is served on your private terrace, with Andrea preparing something different every day, a lovely mix of Sri Lankan and English options. The whole place is calm, peaceful, and effortlessly charming. Shiva Sunrise Resort isn’t flashy, but it offers five-star service in a breathtaking setting. It’s just a short and easy tuk-tuk ride (around three kilometres) into the lively centre of Hikkaduwa, so you can enjoy the hustle and bustle and then return to complete tranquility. “Cannot recommend this place enough!”

I wish we could give this place an 11/10. From start to finish Shyam, Andrea, Khalu and the rest of the team went above and beyond to make sure that we had an amazing experience at Shiva. They were so friendly and welcoming to us. Even the bonus of Charlie the dog was a lovely surprise for us! The room was beautiful, the hot water and AC was good. The resort itself was peaceful and clean, with only 5 cabanas it never felt busy which we loved! The pool was the perfect temperature and really big - easily swimmable! The breakfasts were spot on, and massive! They helped order food from their partner restaurant on days that we just wanted to stay in and chill. They helped recommend restaurants close by for food as well. Highly recommend doing the sunrise on their boat - such a calming and beautiful experience!

An absolute gem! Thank you so much to Shyam and Andrea (and Charlie!) for making our stay so enjoyable. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The resort is stunning with beautiful rooms and a gorgeous pool right by the lake. I only wish we could have stayed longer. Could not recommend this place any more!

We stayed for 2 nights and wished we had stayed at least 2 more. The property is wondeful, beautiful and peaceful, the pool overlooking the lake is magical. Highlights would definitely be the property manager Shyam, he is charming funny and incredible host. We did not want for anything. He recommended a fantastic trip on the lake, arranged us dinner reservations at a fab local restaurant, he also personally took us to town in a tuk Tuk when we needed a few things. He is an absolute asset to the property and certainly added to our stay with wonderful stories and care. His assistant is also lovely and Charlie the fab dog is delightful and kept us company. Could recommend more highly!!!! Will definitely be back!!! Thank you Shaym again!!!

“Fabulous tranquil relaxation”

Fabulous property in a idyllic location. Great to unwind at the end of the holiday . Helpful staff,. Manager Shyam helped us with bookings and generally looked after us very well and Charlie the dog was a sweetie greeting us enthusiastically like old friends.Tremendous bird life and biodiversity on the lake and in the beautiful gardens.

Lovely rooms around an amazing pool and right by the lake. The breakfast was delicious and there are some great nearby restaurants. The staff can also head into town for you and get you fresh fish which you can cook on their BBQ. Service was faultless and the resident dog Charlie is adorable.
