Overview
Boasting hot spring baths that overlook a beautiful beach, Atagawakan provides comfortable guest rooms fitted with tatami (woven-straw) flooring. Carefully prepared meals with seasonal ingredients are served in the comfort of guests’ own room. Free Wi-Fi is provided in the public area. The spacious rooms feature large windows offering plenty of sunlight and views of the ocean. A TV, a telephone and an electric kettle are included. Guests sleep on traditional futon bedding on the tatami floor. Atagawakan Ryokan offers both indoor and outdoor hot spring baths with splendid views. One of 4 small baths can be booked for a private use at an extra charge. Guests can relax with a massage treatment. The property is a 7-minute walk from Izu-Atagawa Train Station, and a free pick-up service is available if requested at time of booking. Atagawa-Onsen Beach is right in front of the ryokan, and Atagawa Tropical Alligator Garden is an 8-minute walk away. Japanese multi-course dinner is prepared using fresh seafood, and served in the guest room with a Nakai (personal attendant) service. Delicious breakfast is also served in the room.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the views overlooking the sea were stunning. My favourite part was the public onsen, which had an incredible view from the 4th floor where you could watch the sunrise.

Right on the ocean. Beautiful view of the ocean. Spectacular onsen & view. Traditional style hotel in all the best ways. Lovely, helpful staff. The town is vert quiet (mid Feb) but beautifully lit up with red lanterns throughout. Spectacular at night.

The ryokan provides shuttle service to and from the train station but only for a certain timing. The staff are friendly and warm and they also have Chinese speaking staff to attend to us. The full sea view from the ryokan and the beach just at the door step were cool.

The outdoor public Onsen had a lovely view of the beach. The room too had a great view of the beach. Having POLA in all the bathrooms was a nice touch.

“Very good, the sea view is healing”
I like the dinner, although it is quite expensive the service and food quality is super good! The staff is very lovely, even though they are not good at speaking in English, they will help you using different methods.

Bad smell of cold cigarette in the room. Extra fees and taxes to pay on top of the booking for baby mastress and onsen (that we did not have time to even use) that were not announced at the booking. Staff a bit stressful on the check out timing: at 10am sharp, as we were about going down to check out, we both received a phone call from the reception with a tough tone of voice and a staff rang at the door at the same time to kick us out. Its is stressful for the family, especially when you have a baby boy.

“Exceptional sea view from the room within an old fashion hotel with onsen.”
The view from the room was amazing when we arrived in the afternoon. The onsen on the 4th floor has free usage and is great and it has both internal and external parts to enjoy. The traditional breakfast was good and contained local specialties too. There were free buses going to the railway station regularly in the morning. The staff tries their best to help your stay to be as pleasant as possible. The beach is in the front of the hotel.
