Offering traditional Japanese-style accommodation with spacious public baths, Yatsusankan is a 6-minute walk from JR Hidafurukawa Train Station. “Beautiful, stepping back in history”
The property is has a lot of character and there is much beauty in its age. Due to our error, we ended up making two separate bookings and therefore stayed in two types of rooms, the junior suite and a tatami suite. The junior suite is in the newer part and was very comfortable with more modern finishes. The tatami suite was in the older part (our room had no lift access) and was much more spacious, but showed its age- but this didn’t detract from the experience. The food was excellent and quite the experience. They were understanding of my dietary needs being pregnant. Our first dinner and breakfasts were kaiseki/traditional but we were able to choose from options for subsequent meals e.g. western style breakfast, and specific dinner meals. Perfectly located to explore Hidafurukawa, which is a delightful town. Great views.

Beautiful location in the historical centre of Hida, by the river, at walking distance of all points of interest. Very nice welcome and perfect service provided by the amazing staff and management, always ready to provide help and guide you through the traditional way of life in Japan. Efficiency with ultimate politeness and friendliness, certainly coming from almost 2 centuries of service. Japanese breakfast and dinner were a feast. Hot baths in the hotel (public or private) are extremely well maintained and equipped. Very good location to visit the whole Northern Gifu prefecture, from the Gassho-Sukuri villages, to the Kamioka Science Museum, and all the magnificent roads, villages, and Takayama of course, while resting in a so comfortable nest.

Beautiful traditional ryokan experience. We had a stunning room with a wonderful view. Dinner and breakfast was delicious. We used both the public onsen and the cypress bath in our room, which were very clean.

It was our third time at the Yatsusankan! Even though it's been six years since our last visit, this establishment remains a wonderful gem, and you should feel privileged to be its guests. All the staff are helpful, smiling, and kind. You feel welcomed and cared for, and every little detail is designed to make you feel at ease. The cuisine is excellent, both the wonderful dinner and the amazing breakfast... everything was perfect, and we can't wait to return to Hida and to this authentic ryokan.

It was a magical experience. We loved everything about Yatsusankan: The room, the atmosphere, the onsen, the staff, the high quality meals. It even started to snow when we were there, making the experience even more beautiful. Our 11 year old didn’t want to leave 😍 We could not be happier about our stay here and would return in a heartbeat.

Beautiful and restful stay. Stunning old house in the heart of Hida Furukawa. A few minutes walk to many attractions. The view from the room was stunning, and so was the indoor onsen. Everything was thoughtful and perfect. The staff were extremely kind.

Yatsusankakan Ryokan in Hida-Furukawa gave us an excellent experience. The staff were lovely. Very polite and professional. The accommodation was great - very clean and very traditional... beautiful rooms and facilities. We had the beautiful Onsen baths. Inside and outside and we're given delicious dinner and breakfast on our own private dining room. Looking out on the beautiful inside gardens. The service was exceptional. We thoroughly recommend this accommodation. The village is also very pretty.
