Onoan is a little far out, some transport guidance, taxi numbers or contacts for bicycle hire nearby, nearby amenities and how to reach them would be welcome & appreciated.

“Traditional house in the countryside”

This accomodation is about an 80 year old house, so it’s going to come with some quirks being of that age in the countryside so as they have mentioned it’s going to pretty cold here in winter but the heating was definitely adequate for us staying early spring. They have also renovated the showers so while you still get the feel of an old property you can modern age amenities. My favourite part at the house was the table blanket which keeps you lovely and warm. This stay is also great value for money would definitely recommend and arrive during the day so you can enjoy the surroundings.

Overall they are clean. The water heater is hot and suitable for showers in Winter time.

“Peaceful authentic Japanese experience in a lovely scenic quiet area.”

We enjoyed the novelty of living Japanese style, sitting at the low table and sleeping on the floor but the novelty wore off because we are all in our seventies and sitting with no back support began to hurt our backs. We began to roster the time sitting on the one chair. The bus stop out in front was great as were the nearby shops. We enjoyed being out in the country away from the hustle of Takayama. Spotlessly clean.

Good there were 2 showers. Good automatic lighting system. Good air conditioning / heating. Good parking space. Good convenient store access. Good there was kotatsu. Very comfortable bedrooms and futon sets. Very family friendly space.

“Perfect if you want an authentic Japanese experience.”

The authenticity of the house was exactly what we were looking for. We didnt mind the downsides of the house. The heaters are powerful and the kotatsu was super cozy. The house has a ton of appliances and is very spacious. We were sad to leave after 1 night, but the place was booked for the takayama festival weekend.
