“Lovely comfortable and characterful hotel with great staff”

“A truly welcoming Casa Rural in a beautiful setting”

I felt incredibly welcome at Escuela Rural Casa Los Herrera. It is a beautifully renovated historic house with a lot of character and charm. The staff are exceptionally kind — something you don’t experience very often. It was not just friendly service, but a genuine feeling of being welcome, not like in many hotels where you are treated politely but still feel like just another guest. You can really sense that the team enjoys their work, at least that was my impression. My room was very spacious, with a high ceiling and a lovely large terrace. The hotel also offers several beautiful shared terraces. Unfortunately, the weather in January was not ideal to fully enjoy them — but they must be wonderful on sunny days. Breakfast was prepared and presented with great care and attention to detail. Again, very different from the typical mass buffets of large hotel chains: here quality, atmosphere and personal touch clearly matter. A small detail that really surprised me positively: there was even body cream provided in the bathroom — something you rarely find in this category of accommodation. The hotel is located in Hermigua, a small village on the green northeast coast of La Gomera. It is not a compact town center, but rather a long valley with scattered houses, banana plantations and small hamlets. It is an excellent base for hiking. Even without a rental car, Hermigua is well-connected by public transport: bus line 2 runs several times a day between San Sebastián de La Gomera, Agulo, Hermigua and Vallehermoso. I will definitely return — and next time I plan to stay longer than four nights, as I am far from having seen enough of this beautiful island.

The location was about as good as it can be in Hermigua as it is pretty much in the centre of the very linear village and near the church and an excellent restaurant just 50 metres away. The terrace attached to the room had lovely views across the valley and the fridge in the room was really useful.

Very nice hotel, looks very cool in that rural area. Very good location in the centre of a long Hermigua village. We were even able to find electrical charging for a car, though not very close. Parking is available nearby along the street. Great view over the mountains!

Very beautiful hotel with mountain view, big terraces, lots of space, very good service and Jacuzzi on the rooftop terrace. We totally loved it!

The staff were great, the facilities of a high quality, the room had a massive terrace/balcony, and the rooftop hot tub was a nice touch

“A quiet place to rest”

The situation, just in front of the village's church. The views from the terrace's room and from the roof. The ambience, a mix of tradition and modernity. The quiet.

Breakfast was probably the best I’ve ever had at a hotel!

The Space in my Hotel room was what blew me away, also I liked that there was high ceilings. The staff were exceptionally helpful even with my limited español, they went above and beyond to ensure I had the optimum experience. I like that on the 1st floor, when standing near the self-service coffee table; there was a partially open roof. This gave a beautiful view of the Church’s Clocktower and let it in a lot of Natural Sunlight, this enhanced the beautiful architecture of floor number 1. The balcony was what sold it for me. The property is a short 15-20 Minute walk down to the Rocky Beach and is very picturesque. The breakfast the hotel provided was exceptional, they ensured I was well fed. The Waiters that delivered the food were very friendly and inviting which allowed for a more relaxed experience. (Sidenote: As i took videos of the room, i don’t have still photos, however the photos on the website do provide a very accurate likeness to what my room looked like.) There’s so much more I could talk about but I’d rather you experience it in person!
