The heater didn't work in our assigned room, so after a couple of hours waiting to hear back from the host, we were moved to a warm room, which also had a kitchenette. The breakfast was great, lots of choice. It would be nice if it opened earlier than 8:30am.

Quiet, clean

It was such a cute and charming place, and we really enjoyed our stay. Everything felt cozy and welcoming from the moment we arrived. The breakfast was delicious and it was a great way to start the day. The host was absolutely lovely—friendly, helpful, and made us feel right at home.

When we arrived, it was already dark, but the maps led us right to the place. We followed all instruction sent us via Booking app and entered into beautiful cozy room. The room was a bit small, and the same goes for the bathroom but in the room was everything what we could possibly needed for one night stay. Room was equipped with the heater! The beds were separate, but that what we knew as other option wasn't available during booking. There’s a shared kitchen available for guests, what we comfortably used for preparing a dinner. Breakfast is also served in this kitchen area — it was included in our stay.

“Very bad and unsafe”

Very bad！ 1.Nearly impossible to find — I spent a long time searching in the middle of the night. 2.Dangerous road at the entrance — a car sank into a water-filled pit and needed a tow. 3.Host was extremely rude and unreasonable. 4.Chaotic and unsafe — the police showed up. I do not recommend this hotel.

“Peaceful stay in nature — and we saw the Northern Lights!”

Riverfront Lodge in Hella is a lovely place surrounded by nature, just a few steps from a small river. There’s a shared kitchen available for guests, where breakfast is also served — it was included in our stay. Our room was cozy, though a bit small, and the same goes for the bathroom. The beds were separate, but that wasn’t really an issue. Communication with the host was excellent, and the atmosphere was peaceful and relaxing. And the best part — we got to see the Northern Lights right from there! Truly unforgettable.

There are actually 2 buildings - Riverfront and Laxa. Although I made a reservation for Riverfront, our room was in the other building, where all rooms were quite smaller and NOT as the pictures in Booking! We arrived at the property around 19h after full day of trekking and sightseeing. I was not able to find the room and called the host and after asking why the room is different (and smaller) than the pictures, he said we are not forced to stay as he doesn’t want unhappy customers and will refund me… He even said we’ve got a room upgrade as the room that we booked was an old one (we walked thought the property and haven’t seen older rooms)! If you decide the book there ask upfront about the room. In our room there was no place to store the luggage - just a kitchen chair and a bench (not the table and chairs as on the pictures). Otherwise the place was clean with a lovely view.

Location was lovely overlooking the river. Breakfast was plentiful.

My boyfriend and I had a wonderful stay at Riverfront Lodge in Hella. We were both competing in a bike race 10 mins drive away (as were quite a few of the guests) and it was the perfect place to get ready for the race and relax afterwards. The hosts were incredibly friendly and informative - we had an interesting conversation about Icelandic culture over our last breakfast but at no point did we feel they were overbearing. They were very accommodating about our bikes, letting us use the decking to assemble them and break them down for the bike boxes and offering us use of the hose to clean them if needed. Breakfast was varied and a great start to the day. We bought food from a local supermarket and the shared kitchen was well stocked with every cooking utensil and seasoning etc that we needed to make dinner. The location is simply stunning - backing onto a river with scenic views in the background. The room was cozy (we pushed our twin beds together) and the water pressure in the shower was good. For anyone looking for a relaxing place to use as a base to explore the local area - the Highlands a short drive away are beautiful - this is it.
