The place was clean, very close to main market, and not far from Devon Falls Owners were very nice and sweet. They made us complimentary tea on arrival. My parents had a great time chatting with them. Owner also took us to town, and showed us around places and waterfalls in a reasonable price. Their daughter is also very sweet, she gave me a pen as a gift when we were leaving. The view from room is very nice, very treehouse vibe. The sound of the running river feels so nice at night. Breakfast was included and was really good. They asked us what we'd like to eat, woke us up for breakfast when requested, and also gave us plates and glasses for our takeaway dinner.

Rock View Rest Hatton felt like a comfortable, well-run homestay and it suited our trip perfectly. The owner lives on the property in a separate section, so the place feels safe and well maintained, and he was genuinely kind and helpful whenever we needed anything. Our room was spacious enough for four people, the beds were large and comfortable, and having reliable hot water was a big plus. There’s also a separate dining area, and the balcony view is really nice, with a river down below which adds a calm atmosphere. The location was one of the biggest advantages for us because it’s right next to the main road, making it very easy to find and convenient for getting around. We also tried their food and found it tasty, filling, and reasonably priced.

Amazing Hidden Gem between Hatton and Adam's Peak We had an incredible stay at Rock View Rest Hatton. What makes this place shine is the family—Ravi and his wife are the best hosts we’ve ever met. They instantly made us feel welcome, and Ravi even offers quick, easy transport right from the door to places like Hatton and Adam's Peak, which makes exploring completely stress-free. Their hospitality is top-notch. The rooms are super clean and comfortable, which is always a huge relief when traveling. You absolutely must do the cooking class! Learning to make traditional Sri Lankan curries with Ravi's family was easily one of the highlights of our whole trip. The food they cook is unbelievably fresh and delicious. The location is amazing, too. It’s nestled right in beautiful nature, surrounded by lush bamboo and a peaceful river right outside. It's quiet and perfect for relaxing. Honestly, if you're coming to the Hatton area, book this place. It’s a genuine, warm, and unforgettable experience. We can't wait to go back!

“Welcoming and lovely location”

The hosts were incredibly welcoming and the food was delicious! We had dinner and breakfast and were delivered an absolute feast for both! Our host even brought us a sweet rice dish with our tea for Thai pongal, as we were here over the celebrations. The place is right over the river and view just 10 minutes walk down the road it possibly the most beautiful view we saw in all of Sri Lanka over the reservoir and tea fields and the church is pretty too. My great grandfather’s brother is commemorated inside They’ve really struggled here since the floods and landslides and still the Trainline is not open, so support the locals as much as possible 😊

The host family was super kind and supportive they arranged a very beautiful tour to the local sights and the taxi to ambewela. Normally we wanted to take the train to ambewela but the host kindly told us that due to the Monsun the railway was damaged. Though we only spend there one night I would also recommend it for a longer stay!

Tld the bus conductor to help us. Even the bus driver & the conductor helped us. Waited till us to come back and greeted warm. * The best place if you plan to hike Adam's peak their hospitality helped us more than everything. * Kept our bags and even offered us to stay for a while when we came back. Ravi and his wife are amazing local hosts. Extraordinary friendly and funny. We arrived at the bus station and got an immediate pick up by Ravi in his TukTuk Even though not asked he would tell us things about the surroundings like a guide, he made jokes and laughed a lot After the quick ride to his lovely home stay by the river we were welcomed by him and his wive with a nice cup of tea in the dining area above the river. He then explained what we need to know to enjoy our two days, made recommendations depending on the weather and we got a great offer to guide us two days around for an absolutely fair price including pickup, TukTuk Tour to waterfalls, car ride to Adam’s Peak starting point and transfer to the train station. His wife cooked amazing traditional dishes and they will make any of your wishes happen. If you don’t know yet about traditional food you can trust them blindly One recommendation of us is to definitely ask for Halapa, which is a nice desert that takes long time to cook so you should ask for it the day before you want to try it.

Ravi helped me with transportation from the station to the house, and Vasanthi’s food was absolutely delicious. I truly enjoyed my stay!

Truly wonderful stay. Ravi and his lovely family took great care of me, cooked me tasty homemade food and brought me to nice trips around. I will definitely come back whenever I come back to Sri Lanka.
