I can't talk highly enough about Nilowin Glenanore guesthouse. We felt like we were part of the family and even though we only stayed a night really enjoyed the experience. We did a cooking class and learnt heaps about Sri Lanka cuisine. The views are unbelievable and the hospitality is second to none.

This is one of the best hotel I've ever stayed in Sri Lanka! Being surrounded by misty clouds, and the view of the tea plantation from the room is stunning, which makes me felt like being in a fairyland. The dinner and breakfast were amazingly delicious. In the morning, there were even adorable monkeys jumping around on the balcony.

From the friendly welcome to the warm goodbye, our stay at the guesthouse was a wonderful experience. The breakfasts were the best we’ve had on our trip — a true taste of Sri Lankan cuisine — and the cooking class gave us the chance to create our own dishes. The location was perfect for hikes and offered cooler weather, making it ideal for some downtime. Overall, our stay here was a highlight of our trip.

The room is spacious, clean, and comfortable. The balcony offers beautiful mountain views—perfect for relaxing with a pot of tea. Right across from the property is a tea plantation, and there are nearby steps leading to higher viewpoints where you can enjoy stunning views of the surrounding valleys and tea fields. The property is also located along the way to Adisham Bungalow. They offer paid dinner and breakfast, both of which are very generous and delicious—excellent value for money. The staff are cheerful and welcoming, always happy to provide travel information and assistance. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to stay a few more days and never leave.

“Amazing stay in the tea fields”

If you come to Haputhale, you have to stay here ! Amazing place, views are breathtaking, beds are super comfy and the staff is great ! Definitely our best hotel in Sri Lanka. You also have to do the cooking class where you get to cook traditional Sri Lankese food, one of our best experiences.

We loved our stay here at Nilowin Guesthouse. The rooms are spacious, clean and have beautiful mountain views. The food was unbelievable and we did a cooking class which was the highlight of our stay in Haputale. We would recommend staying here and doing the cooking class - a must do. Thank you.

Such a stunning & peaceful place, we would have loved to have stayed a whole lot longer. The team were so so helpful and welcoming, and the cooking class was unreal!

Everything! Friendly and efficient host Saman greeted us on arrival and remained available and helpful throughout our three day stay. The cooking course was fantastic, informative and hands-on, with a series of dishes which we ate for supper- followed up by photos and recipes being forwarded next day. A really fab, fun evening! Our room was superb, stunning!- with panoramic views across the mountains and misty valleys. The en-suite was lovely, clean and spacious. The restaurant was through the garden- a hidden jungle gem! Breakfasts ( Sri Lankan) were great, with egg hoppers freshly made and all the trimmings. Overall, a way above average establishment, top notch in every respect, highly recommended.

“Amazing stay with very friendly and helpful hosts”

We had an amazing 2 nights here in the deluxe family room. The views are incredible from the room and the balcony. All of the food was delicious and we really enjoyed the cooking class too. Everyone at the guesthouse was so helpful and friendly, gave us great recommendations for things to do nearby, and arranged a driver for us to our next stay. Would recommend to anyone and we wish we could have stayed longer!

“Excellent stay, scenic location with fabulous food”

Great views, large room. Excellent dinner and breakfast (extra charge) Owner very helpful about things to do in the local area. We stayed 2 nights, wished it was 3 so had time to explore more locally and to the cookery course.

We loved the view from our room. It was exactly like the photo. We had dinner and breakfast at the hotel and it was very tasty. My partner did get a bit unwell from the spiceness of dinner so be mindful of this if you can't handle spicy food. They also have a cooking class, which we didn't do but looked great. Perfect location to see all the major sights in the area. There is also a lovely view of some tea plants.

We had bad weather, but that didn't impact our stay here. The people are so friendly and help out with everything. They even helped with cleaning our tuktuk and checking it when we had issues. We had great food here and the rooms are great too. Hot shower is a plus! And when we did get to see the view, it was amazing.

Stayed in the family suite for two nights - wow, what a luxurious, comfortable, spacious, modern room with an amazing view. Cooking class was fantastic! Highly recommended! Staff was amazing, friendly and helpful.

Best view and cleanest rooms we have ever seen in Sri Lanka, amazing interior design in the rooms, wonderful and memorable cooking experience we had with a great host. We had a great time hearing about his inspiration for the cooking classes and we also got to talk to other fellow travelers.

“Absolutely stunning place to stay!!”

We had an unforgettable time at Nilowin Glenanore Guest House. Our room had breathtaking views, and Saman was incredibly helpful and an amazing chef—breakfasts were practically works of art ... the VERY best we had on our trip! We also loved the cookery course, which we highly recommend. From the guest house, you can step straight onto a beautiful walk through the tea plantations—so peaceful. If you want to escape the town and relax in stunning surroundings, this is the place to stay! We opted to stay just outsdide Haputale (Nilowin is a short tuktuk ride from Haputale) which is much quiter than Ella ... it was definitely the right choice for us!!

“Lovely hospitality”

It's such a shame we didnt get to enjoy this place more because of the weather (we were in a cloud and in rain for our time here and could not see a thing!). Hospitality was absolutely lovely. Food nice in the restaurant and the cooking class looked fab (I chose to sit out because I was feeling a bit under the weather). We decided to move on a day early and they were more than accommodating. Lovely people, lovely comfortable place... and the first hot shower ive had in Sri Lanka! Loved the tea & coffee on arrival and it is really sweet they let us in the room quite early. Bed was super comfy though with a nice thick cover and sheet and very clean - room was huge.
