“A slice of paradise in Sri Lanka”

Michael and Ruwanthi have truly created a little piece of paradise in Haputale. From the moment we arrived, we were treated not as guests, but like family. Their warmth, kindness, and genuine passion for what they do shines through in absolutely everything — from the thoughtful attention to detail around the accommodation, to the care they show each guest personally. The accommodation itself was spotless, beautifully furnished, incredibly comfortable, and had easily the best view we experienced in Sri Lanka. Waking up to that scenery every morning felt unreal! And then there’s the FOOD. Every meal was exceptional - Ruwanthi could easily open her own restaurant and give many establishments a run for their money. The flavours, freshness, and love put into every dish was remarkable - please do not give their meals a miss when staying here! We also loved Ruwanthi’s informative cooking classes and garden tour, which were both fascinating and so thoughtfully conducted - so much heart has been poured into creating a meaningful experience for their guests. We stayed for 2 nights, and but this was nowhere close to the amount of time we really needed to fully soak everything in, and to get to know their adorable dogs. Wished we had booked a much longer stay (next time!). This was easily one of the highlights of our trip to Sri Lanka, and we cannot recommend it highly enough!

“A home away from home! Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka.”

This was our favourite stay in Sri Lanka! The house was incredible, set in the mountains with the most spectacular views. Ru and Mike were very welcoming from the moment we arrived and we soon settled in like it was our own. The food was the best we had in Sri Lanka, and the gardens and pool were gorgeous. It was also in a fantastic location, close enough to a lot of the major towns, but without being in tourist hot spots like Ella. This really felt like a home away from home and we gained such special memories as a family that will last a lifetime. This is our first time staying but certainly won’t be our last. Thank you so much.

GlenMyu estate is an absolute gem of a property. Stunning location and views from the amazing house. The room and bathroom were fantastic, clean, so comfortable and waking up to the views across the mountains fabulous. Michael and Ru looked after me so well with a tour of their amazing garden. The dogs were an added bonus too! The food was the best that I had in Sri Lanka and Ru went out of her way to provide lots of Sri Lankan treats and I was sent away with enough for my lunch on the day I left. The swimming pool is fantastic and despite the rain I had a lovely swim followed by a very luxurious bath.

It is difficult to recommend this place highly enough. However, let me try: Visit Sri Lanka and stay at GlenMyu! The location, the view, the garden that is worthy of paradise, and the food are all exceptional – not to mention meeting the hosts, who are inspiring and wonderful people. Staying at GlenMyu was definitely one of the highlights of our trip.

Spectacular property in every way from the rooms to the house to the estate itself. The view is simply breathtaking and the bathroom also has the same beautiful view. Fantastic, friendly and hospitable hosts in Michael and Ruwanthi with AMAZING food and drink sourced from their estate and lovingly made by Ruwanthi (and team). Other staff members were also extremely polite and kind. This place is truly magical with so much to offer than initially meets the eye. Highly highly recommend.

Our stay at this boutique hotel in Haputale was nothing short of exceptional. Perched in the hills with some of the most stunning views I have ever seen, it offered the perfect mix of comfort, tranquility, and natural beauty. Michael and Ruwantha were incredible hosts—warm, genuine, and the kind of people who instantly make you feel at home. Their hospitality truly elevated our experience. The surrounding nature was remarkable, and Ru’s garden was a highlight on its own, filled with an impressive variety of plants that made every walk around the property feel special. The staff were always smiling and ready to help with anything we needed, creating a wonderfully welcoming atmosphere. And the dogs! They were so friendly and added an extra touch of charm to the place. We stayed for three nights, and it simply wasn’t enough. This is the kind of place you leave already wanting to return. A true gem in the heart of Sri Lanka’s hill country.

We had booked two nights, but this stay turned into an exceptional and unforgettable experience thanks to our hosts Michael and Ruwanthi. Their warm welcome, a dinner worthy of a fine dining restaurant, and the best breakfast of our lives (both in quality and quantity, all homemade with fresh products from the garden) will remain forever in our memories. Ruwanthi gave us a wonderful tour of the lush garden, full of animals (cows, chickens, ducks, monkeys, squirrels…) leading all the way down to a beautiful waterfall. The pool, naturally supplied with mountain water and chlorine-free, is simply stunning and brilliantly designed. The house itself, built with incredible taste, offers breathtaking views of the natural park and mountains from every room. The staff was always discreet, smiling, and attentive, adding to the charm of the stay. This is truly a haven of peace that we wholeheartedly recommend. If we ever return to Sri Lanka, this place alone will be a reason to come back.

“A Sri Lankan Gem”

We loved absolutely everything about our stay at GlenMyu Estate. Our hosts, Ruwanthi and Michael couldn't have been more kind and friendly. They live in paradise and are very open and happy to share it with their guests. The views are magnificent. Many different bird species inhabit or visit the property daily. The pool is truly beautiful and its surrounds are the perfect place to immerse oneself in serenity to the gentle sounds of trickling water from the stream. Our room was gorgeous! Everything is so cleverly and tastefully designed. I loved my tour with Ru showing me around their abundant garden...you name it, they grow it, and probably you will eat it at your next meal, prepared in a delicious way, often to a super Sri Lankan recipe. Ru has an extensive knowledge of the plants she grows and their culinary and medìcinal uses. Ru's cooking is out of this world. She is a magician in sauce making. Her freshly made bread is a delight to see at the breakfast table each morning, and her cinnamon buns are legendary. Ru gently introduced us to Sri Lankan cuisine and explained the ingredients and cooking methods used to produce these delicious dishes. We loved every moment of our three wonderful days in this paradise and hope we can return soon.

Michael and Ruyanthi are welcoming hosts who really made our stay feel personal. When realising we’d had our birthdays a few days beforehand they made us a cake and special meal! They also helped me a lot when I felt unwell. The property is stunning and has a great view, which is a joy wake up to. Love the finish on the inside spaces and gardens (with the pool) are lovely. There is a sense of tranquility and calm, so it’s a good place to read a book / unwind. The breakfasts and dinners were so great and left us missing them for the rest of our trip!

One of the highlights of our stay was the incredible cooking experience hosted by Ruwanthi and her mum. They graciously welcomed us into the kitchen, sharing stories and walking us through the preparation of our evening meals, we're so glad we arrived in time for this! The accommodation itself was stunning, with breathtaking views that made every moment special. Michael and Ruwanthi were exceptionally warm and welcoming, making us feel completely at home. I can't recommend GlenMyu highly enough!

- Great owners who radiate sincerity, you just know you've come to the right place. - Undeniably the best food we had in Sri Lanka, and I would even say one of the best we have had in many years of travelling. I especially recommend Seafood Kottu. - In general, the house, surroundings, nature, views. - Very friendly dogs. I probably forgot to mention all the advantages that I had in mind before. But I think I mentioned the most important ones. Thanks Ruwanthi and Michael for the unforgettable stay. As we generally rarely return to the same places, I think there is a great chance that we will make an exception here. I dream that every place we visit in the future will be as high level as yours.

First the location, don't expect to be close to the city of Haputale but you can join it by tuk-tuk in 20min, that not a problem as long you searching a place for rest and make a break in your trip, it's like a green oasis, you are surrounded by hundred kind of tree and plants, monkeys, birds... The pool is coming from a natural spring and is a great way to relax after a hiking day. View from the saloon and the room is breathtaking, you feel privileged. Don't miss the breakfast and the diner, almost all come from the garden or the surrounding area. Ruwanthi is a formidable cooker and she will enjoy to provide you explanation of her garden and how she cook (with her mother sometimes haha) Also Michael is a great host and will have the pleasure to discuss with you of anything or to give you an answer at any question. Thank you you to all the people who are working with them and for them they all do a good job, very discreet and professional. Last word for the dogs, there is a number of nine, it you are a animals lover it's your place, if not you are warned :)

Away from the tourist crowds, as only 3 rented rooms. Beautiful and spectacular location and setting. Best food we have had in Sri Lanka. Loved the dogs …. but not everyone would. Very quiet for sleeping.
