What a magical place! Roshani and her husband made us feel truly at home from the moment we arrived. She prepared lunch, dinner, and breakfast in her special kitchen and kindly explained her cooking along the way. Everything was absolutely delicious. The atmosphere is peaceful and authentic, and the hospitality is exceptional.

“An impossibly wonderful stay”

Our host was so helpful and cooked us delicious meals. The property itself was stunning and so peaceful. We saw elephants without having to pay for entrance to the national park and took the canoe out in the morning with a local fisherman. We saw crocs and an incredible array of birds. I can't really express how much lovely our host was. She's very interested in books so she'd be so happy if you're able to leave some with her. We would 100% come again.

We had a truly wonderful stay at Glimra Eco Lodge. We received a very warm welcome from Roshani, who generously shared insights into life in Sri Lanka and its local cuisine. She prepared three meals a day for us, and it was by far the best food we had during our month in Sri Lanka. We were also very pleased with the accommodation itself, which was comfortable and thoughtfully maintained, and daily room service was provided as well. The surrounding nature was beautiful, and during our kayak tours we were able to observe a wide variety of animals. What made the stay truly special was the warm and personal atmosphere throughout our time there. It was the perfect place to slow down, relax, and enjoy the surrounding nature. We already miss our time at the lodge very much and hope to come back one day.

“Natural Paradise”

Stay here if you want to experience beautiful Sri Lankan nature!!! The property is so serene, with views over the lake right on your doorstep. There are SO many birds around, we saw King Fishers, Eagles and Herons. The property is owned and run by a young couple, who are excellent hosts. Roshani cooked us delicious meals and also showed us where we could see elephants on the road. You can also take their kayak and explore the lake yourself. Really a wonderful stay and we hope to return!

“Beautiful nature experience and great hospitality”

Such a magical place! Sleeping in beautiful nature right in front of the lake, where we did a lot of kayaking which was so peaceful and we could see a lot of birds as well buffalos. Also, Roshani gave us a great alternative to the expensive and crowded jeep safari when she arranged a tuktuk driver for us who got us to a place nearby to see elefants. We had amazing selfmade food (breakfast, lunch and dinners) - the best food we had on our trip so far!! Great talking to Roshani to hear her inspiring story. Besides all the aforesaid: you support a wonderful local business staying with her. Highly recommended!!

Glimra Eco Lodge was just lovely. The young owners are really going to make a success of this business. They kindly drove us along the road in the late afternoon to look for elephants, cooked a delicious dinner and then booked me a boat safari. They work so hard! Really recommend the boat safari too, it was just beautiful and I saw so many birds and took photos. I wish I could have stayed longer.

The eco lodge is truly magical and was a highlight of our trip to Sri Lanka. The property is beautiful and the activities were very special. At night we were brought to the most amazing viewpoint to watch the sunset. In the morning we did the canoe safari with local fishermen where we saw lots of birds, including many kingfishers and herbils. Roshani also arranged an affordable safari for us the next day. All in all such a wonderful experience and would 100% recommend. Price/quality is really good.

Clean, incredible service minded people, the owners built the place themselves and have a beautiful story behind the land they’ve turned into this beautiful place. And the food!!! Their food was amazing!

This place was a highlight of our trip through Sri Lanka! It is a peaceful place located next to a beautiful lake, with loads of animals and birds! Roshani is the best host! They built all the lodges themselves, with the most respect for the lake and the animals! She also cooks all the meals herself, and every meal is incredibly tasty! In the morning a fisherman took us on a boat around the lake! Which was a very peaceful and quiet bird spotting experience! We were very sad to leave, and recommended everyone to stay here! There is also a high chance to spot elephants in the area.

We had an unforgettable stay with Roshani and her family. Their warm hospitality, the amazing food, and the stunning location right by the lake make this ecolodge truly unique. Roshani and her husband personally built the entire place – including the lodges and the beautifully landscaped garden – a heartfelt project by two locals from the village, not part of a chain. This makes the whole experience wonderfully authentic. The lodges are beautiful, super clean, with a comfortable bed, mosquito net, private veranda overlooking the lake, and everything you need for a relaxing stay. Roshani’s cooking is outstanding – fresh, varied, always local, and even adapted to personal preferences. She and her family genuinely enjoy connecting with guests, always curious and kind, but never intrusive. We loved being greeted every morning by their sweet dogs! Nature here is breathtaking: monkeys, cows, and countless birds throughout the day – and elephants crossing the lake. With a bit of luck, you can even watch them while on the boat, moving alongside as they swim across. The boat trip on the lake with fishermen from the village, exploring its different corners, was another unforgettable highlight. Roshani also arranged other activities and transfers perfectly.

Such a beautiful house so secluded and close to the lake

We had a relaxing two days in nature at the homespun Glimra eco lodge on our way to Uda Walawe safari park. It was great to meet and chat to our helpful and attentive hosts Roshani and Nishanka, who are at the beginning of their journey making a larger lodging ground, and it was special to stay in their first house made by Nishanka himself. We enjoyed our afternoon canoe ride by a local fisherman, and spotting birds and animals by the lake

“Amazing stop between Ella and Tangalle”

We chose Glimra Eco Lodge as a stop on our trip between Ella and Tangalle, and it turned out to be the best decision we could have made! Our stay here was the most special experience of our holiday in Sri Lanka. The lodge is beautiful and set near the lake, with everything well-maintained and spotlessly clean. The garden is lovely, and the peaceful location, surrounded by nature, makes it the perfect place to relax. Roshani and her husband were incredibly welcoming and did everything to make us feel comfortable. They prepared a delicious dinner for us and set up a cozy campfire where we could unwind under the stars. Sleeping in the eco-lodge, surrounded by the sounds of nature, was an unforgettable experience. In the morning, they arranged a canoe tour on the lake, which was absolutely stunning. Afterward, a delicious breakfast was waiting for us. We truly hope to visit again someday!

My partner and I stayed two nights in Glimra Eco lodge and this was a true pleasure. Roshani and her husband are such amazing hosts and so helpful, it couldn’t be any better. They did everything to make our stay memorable. From cooking delicious meals, to arranging a safari for us in Udawalawe, which is cheaper compared to the usual prices. Roshani also took us to a place nearby to see the beautiful sunset from up above a hill. The views from the ecolodge are amazing. One morning we could even see an elephant having a bath on the other side of the lake!

My stay at the Glima Eco Lodge was an amazing choice and I wished I could spent more time here. Roshani and her husband are such an inspiring and lovely couple. They treat you like you re a part of their family and serve you one of the best food I ever had in my LIFE! The Eco Lodge is so beautiful, it’s very clean and so cozy. The lake is infront of you and you can hear beautiful sounds of birds. The fireplace and the environment is so relaxing and you have the space only for you!
