Our host, Jalil, was fantastic, a lovely, helpful man. We bought fish from the market one night and he cooked a lovely curry for us. Breakfast each morning was large and delicious. The location was very peaceful and quiet with a view of the ocean from the terraces of both our rooms. Adjacent beach a bit rough for swimming but there's a good spot by the bus station 10 mins walk away. Rooms are basic but very good value for money if you're on a budget. Highly recommended.

Among the best guest houses I've been. Very friendly and helpful owner, excellent food and tea, central and quiet location with sea view, 100m from beach and 500m from main bus station. Room had private bathroom, fan, good ventilation and daylight, is mosquito-proof when doors closed, and had a balcony with sea view. Free wifi is available. Very good value for money. It's very pleasant to sit on the balcony or in the shaded garden in the breeze, hear the sound of the waves and enjoy the view.

Great location, nice view from a balcony. It would be a nice place to stay if ONLY it was CLEAN. The owner is a nice guy, makes good breakfast. But he needs to understand that Europeans don’t like staying in a dirty places.

The guesthouse is right by the sea. It was so nice to sleep to the sound of waves and wake up to the birds singing. Eating simple yet delicious breakfast in the beautiful garden felt almost meditative. Many different birds came and greeted me there. I had a short but memorable conversation with the owner. Such a gentleman. Rooms may be a little run down, and I hope more travellers stay here so they can improve the facilities. There is not much to do or see in Hambantota town itself, but good thing is local people will not hassle you into buying things. They will talk to you with genuine curiosity and friendliness. That makes this town worthwhile to stay after travelling through other touristy places.
