“Excellent choice for visiting the nearby National Parks”

Great budget option in an excellent location to visit Bundala NP. Especially liked to lovely balcony to relax and enjoy the beautiful nature. Good dinner provided. Highly recommend for a night or two. The owner organised our safari trip so mention it on booking.

If it wasn't for the lengths that the owners tried to look after us I would be a bit scathing about this property. We booked this a pit stop from the coast up to Ella and so weren't expecting too much as it is not in an area with much to see other than a safari in the local national park (which the property backs on to) which the hotel does. Although next to a main road in the evening it was reasonably quiet. The room was large, and the owner was happy enough to cancel the original booking and rebook another room when we discovered that we had originally booked without AC. The room had a great balcony overlooking the park which was pleasant to sit on in the evening and watch the wildlife whilst reading my book. You should note that the water is not heated - it gets its warmth from the tank being open to the sun - but actually this was just the right temperature when we were there and the shower was ok for power. The owners were happy to make us dinner (only string hoppers etc, but it was nice and there was plenty of it), and breakfast was a good feast too.

“Lovely stay”

The location was excellent for us as it's 2 mins away from Bundala National Park & the owner of Lagoon Inn also does safaris so we booked with him & had an excellent early morning trip. Our room was clean & spacious with air con & mosquito net & had a bathroom in the room. Lovely balcony overlooking the gardens/National Park & the evening meals you can buy there were tasty & plentiful.

Very convenient location, although on the main road not that noisy. Lovely host, and very near bundala bird reserve

Cheap, clean and nice. No hot water in shower though… maybe expected due to price. Breakfast for 1,000/1,200 was not worth it.. lame, just coffee/tea, white bread, an egg and some fruit pieces. We also had dinner, tasted good but extremely over priced. 1,600 not included water (the they told us when we got the bill) is way more that the 300-900 that we paid on the road with the same quality

“Wish could have stayed for longer!”

Amazing space, beautifully painted with the most amazing view of the wilderness. We only stopped the night but wish we could have stayed for longer to fully embrace being amongst nature. I can’t comment on the location of the property much as I’m not familiar with the area. Hosts were lovely, and the Sri Lankan curry we had for dinner was delicious! Fresh and home made!

Location is very good for safari. Nice view from terrace and nice garden.

“Wonderful location and great value”

We chose the Lagoon Inn as we wished to take Mr Kamal’s birdwatching safari into Bundala NP. He was the perfect host and guide. The room was basic but had everything we needed, spotlessly clean and great value. Curries for dinner and the breakfast were both excellent. Views across the park from our balcony and Mr Kamal’s viewing platform were a bonus.

The Hosts were excellent, I had breakfast and evening meals at very reasonable rates, I also had some laundry done overnight, it came back clean and dry (again at a very reasonable rate). The location was fabulous right next to the park - Note this property is in the countryside, its beauty but not many restaurants close by.... This was NOT an issue for me. I loved being able to view and enjoy the nature close by farmers walking their buffalo out to pasture and back home, the views from the roof top - I also went on a bird watch safari with the host which was excellent

We went here specifically for a tour in Bundala and for that it is perfect. There is not much else in the neighbourhood. The room is fine and clean! We also had dinner there and that was nice.

This was the perfect place to stay to do a safari in Bundala Park. We enjoyed both a morning and evening safari organised by the host which would be absolutely perfect for bird lovers! The first floor of the property also overlooks the park so you are able to relax while watching the birds in the distance. The food was delicious!!

Good value for the money. Owner is very friendly. Peaceful and calm surrounding and a very clean room. Highly recommended.

Great value. Owner went out of his way to make sure we got off the bus in the right place and organised a last minute safari. Bundala park was very close. Also great price! His wife cooked us a lovely meal for when we returned. In general very helpful with advice where to go next.
