This is the perfect guesthouse for doing hikes in this super beautiful area of Sri Lanka. Devils staircase hike, combined with Ella Lanka and Bambarakanda falls is an amazing one, but also Wangedigala (14th highest mountain of Sri Lanka!) can be easily done without a guide. The hosts will help you as much as they can, and are very friendly. The room is comfortable and spacious. Highly recommend this guesthouse!

Nice house with a beautiful terrace and mountain views, the owner helped us get to the hiking trail, and we purchased tea that the family collects and dries themselves

The hosts are a wonderful couple who speak perfect english. The welcome comes with degustations of different local teas or a wonderful coffee :) They kindly anwsered all of our questions and helped us with suggesting activities nearby. They are wonderful cooks and fhe dinner there was above expectations. Be sure to try the curd with sirup as well! We followed mr. Clives suggestion and visited a mountain behind the house which is actually 13. highest peak and it was beautiful. If you decide to go, be sure to start early, the elevation gain is more that 1000m, but the path is clearly visible so you cant get lost. The Bambarakanda falls are very close by and are breathtaking. But Lanka Ella falls are just 2km hike away from the Bambarakanda and are even more special. Even the trail there is amazingly beautiful. We went in the late afternoon and we were completely alone. It was so peaceful. The rooms are simple but clean, beds are a bit small, but considering the price, we were more then happy. Overall I cannot recommend enough. You will love it here.

“Simply wonderful.”

Staying at the misty mountains has to be one of my highlights of Sri Lanka, the warmest welcome and the best tea are served at your arrival. Clive and his wife Chryshantie know what hospitality means, the meals & breakfast were absolutely amazing!! It’s located close to many hiking spots, and if you want to hike devils staircase upwards it’s a good starting point as I did it. “A truly wonderful stay!”

A truly wonderful stay here. Easy to locate after getting off the 99 bus- just off the main road. We were welcomed here with a pot of tea/coffee and a chat with the lovely hosts. We then went to our room which was comfortable and had all that was needed. The area is quite remote and the hosts kindly offered us dinner which we accepted. It was 8 dollars but we got 6 delicious homemade curries, juice, water, dessert and lovely homemade tea after. Highly recommend trying their food! Clive was a very knowledgeable man with amazing English and it was a pleasure to speak to him. He also gave us lots of recommendations for our travels which have been much appreciated. Great location to explore the local area also. Would highly recommend staying here- thankyou :-)

Mr. Clive and his wife were amazing, so kind and helpful. The place was super clean and really comfortable.

Clive and Chryshanthie were the loveliest hosts. They welcomed us with a fresh pot of tea and a bunch of delicious bananas. Our spacious room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It was their warmth and genuine desire to help us in any way they could with information and advice on walks and where to eat etc that made our stay with them very special. They even let us have a late check out so we could shower after our long walk. Very accommodating and thoughtful. I would highly recommend Misty Mountain Guest House. It was a pleasure to stay there.

Mr.Clive ,the owner of the property was soo friendly . He allowed us to use his own kitchen to prepare tea and noodles eventhough the kitchen facilities were not included.great location

Rooms are clean, the food was always delicious and Clive (the owner of the hostel) was very hospitable and helpful throughout my time here. Overall a great experience!

Clive is the most kind, generous and welcoming host. He immediately made me feel at home and was so helpful and attentive. The rooms and facilities were very clean and comfortable. Highly recommend - this was such a special place to stay!

Everything’s was amazing :)) always want to come back

We had a great time with Clive and Chryshanthie. They prepared delicious Sri Lankan dinner and breakfast for us. We spent the evening together and learned a lot about Sri Lanka and just enjoyed spending time together. Clive also showed us his garden where we could see different plants. It felt like we were visiting family. Thank you so much for everything!

The hosts, Clive & Chryshantie, quickly felt like a mom and dad. They were beyond caretaking and amazing. We had the best food ever, for both breakfast and dinner.They gave us gifts, memories for life and helped us with our next booking and made sure we arrived safely. We felt so safe, like home.❤️ The guest house itself had everything we needed and we felt sad to leave after 2 nights. They both are so knowledgeable about many different topics and felt like we could talk for ages and just want more.

The place is wonderful, the room comes with all the comfort needed - but we are mostly grateful to have met the hosts, an amazing and caring couple always open to help and give great insights about places to visit or Sri Lank itself. They cook, and it simply was the best food ever had.

The owner Clive went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. He upgraded our room as the room we originally booked did not have hot water. He would often make us tea or bring us bottles of water and was just an all round friendly guy. The room was clean and comfortable, I can’t fault anything.
