Villa Komakusa exceeded every expectation we had for our family getaway. This charming cottage truly embodies the “home away from home” experience, thoughtfully designed and impeccably maintained. The location couldn’t be more convenient – just a 3-5 minute walk to the Iwatake Gondola, the information center, and Spicy Rental. The gondola itself is a highlight, barely over a year old with sleek modern design. Whether you’re using your ski pass for the slopes or purchasing a ticket to visit the beautifully renovated mountaintop restaurant, it’s an experience worth having. Everything about this villa speaks to careful attention and pride of ownership. The space is spotlessly clean with a well-equipped kitchen that made meal preparation a pleasure. What impressed us most was how thoughtfully maintained everything is – you can tell Yutaka-san genuinely cares about his guests’ comfort and experience. The single heater provided more than adequate warmth throughout our stay, even during -5°C temperatures. Yutaka-san’s detailed instructions were incredibly helpful – he’s even created laminated reminder cards explaining how to use the heater and bathroom, plus winter-specific property care guidelines. These thoughtful touches made us feel confident and comfortable from day one. As a family of three, we found the Japanese futon setup surprisingly cozy. By layering the provided mattresses, we stayed warm and slept comfortably despite the cold weather outside. Yutaka-san is the kind of host who restores your faith in genuine kindness. He picked us up from Hakuba JR Station and took us to the supermarket to stock up on supplies – a gesture that made our entire seven-day stay so much easier. Thanks to the kitchen facilities and his thoughtfulness, we enjoyed home-cooked breakfasts, dinners, and fresh fruit throughout our visit.

The villas are literally 50 meters away from the slopes, well equipped and great for a family/friends trip in Hakuba!! The owner is super kind and helpful, highly recommended. We will visit once again, hopefully with more snow ❄️ !!

Amazing location directly across the road from Iwatake. Cottage was large with all the amenities you would want. There was 3 of us, but it would comfortably sleep 5. More than that is doable, but cosy.

Our stay at Hakuba was absolutely wonderful! The villa itself is spacious and comfortable enough for everyone to relax, a fully equipped kitchen, and a beautiful views of the surrounding areas. One of the standout aspects of our experience was the incredible helpful owner. From the moment we arrived, he picked us up from the station and even took us to the local supermarket to grab groceries for our stay. He also helped us book a taxi so we can easily go to our ski lessons and he drove us back to the station as well after checking out.

“Short walk to gondola”

You can't beat the location. A short walk from the Iwatake Gondola at the end of the day and jumping straight in the shower beats lining up for the bus. Also convenient being able to walk back for lunch, drinks or snacks. Its a very cozy homely cabin with everything you need. Friendly and helpfull host. Was great

Amazing quiet location close to the Iwatake ski lift and there was no shortage of snow. Yutaka was a lovely host and collected and dropped us off at the station on our arrival and departure. He also took us to the supermarket to pick up supplies as more heavy snow was expected. He showed us around the villa on arrival to make sure we knew how to use the appliances etc and also offered a towel change and garbage removal on day 3. The villa was very warm when using the heater and our ski clothes dried perfectly overnight on the clothes rails down stairs. It was a lovely traditional Japanese stay. The kitchen had a few pans, microwave and mini oven and had enough utensils, tableware and cutlery if you wanted to cook. We also loved the hot water machine which was perfect for making a last minute cuppa.

“Cozy log cabin”

We loved the log cabin, it was warm, cozy and well appointed. The location was excellent, a short stroll across the road to the ski lift. The owner was amazing and collected us from the bus station and dropped us back with the assistance of his dad. He was so helpful and accommodating and even took 3 of us to the supermarket and had his friend at the ski hire company help us out with rental equipment. We would definitely love to come back.

Amazing treatment from the host right from the very beginning. Host is very friendly and helped us to shuttle us from Hakuba train stn to the accommodation. Host even offered to allow us to shop at the grocery to buy food etc. Host provided a brief orientation and guided us through the accommodation facilities and provided information Hakuba activities. The cottage is very clean, cosy and spacious. As we went during winter, the cottage provides good heating to ensure that guests are comfortable. We are able to freely play with the snow outside the cottage and the host even lend us a sled for the kid to slide around the snow. Very friendly host and very comfortable stay. Highly recommended.
