The staff was super helpful and friendly, the Onsen is great, the hotel is super clean and the breakfast and restaurant amazing. Every place we wanted to go or come back to they helped us out to get to and it was really life changing.

Big light and airy rooms. Parking facilities on site. Beds were reasonably comfortable. Opening windows for fresh air. Laundry facilities site.They allowed us an early check in too.

Discovering what Happo is like was the highlight of this Nagano trip. This place serves as an excellent base for exploring the Japanese Northern Alps. One day is hardly enough to appreciate the natural beauty here. It seems that HHG did not provide sufficient information about this in advance. The room was clean and the bedding was cozy. When we mentioned it was cold around September, they provided an additional electric heater. We were also very satisfied with the pick-up service they offered to nearby restaurants for dinner. Breakfast was served at the Italian restaurant attached to the hotel, and while it consisted of sandwiches, the ingredients were fresh and of excellent quality. However, we stayed on the second floor, and there was a noise throughout the building that sounded like a generator running. We were relaxed enough that it did not bother us much, but it would be even better if this could be improved.

The location is brilliant for hiking, Hakuba has a laid back hiker town vibe in autumn. Room was very comfortable, bathroom fine but on the smaller side. Netflix on tv, always a plus for the evenings. Very good Italian restaurant, we were the only guests because it was off season and on a weekday. Cafe is also lovely (we preferred the decor & vibe there over that of the restaurant). Good cocktails and bar food! Breakfast very tasty, western style and a la carte supplemented by a small buffet. Tsugaike NP and the hike to Happo Pond were my favourite easy to moderate hikes with beautiful fall colours already because of the elevation. The mountains here are very prone to clouds, so you just have to hope for the best :-). Hotel has a nice (and very clean) onsen to relax in after a day in the mountains.

The room was spacious—far exceeding expectations for Japan. We appreciated the on-site onsen (hot spring). A huge plus was the laundry setup: having three washing machines and dryers on our floor made mid-trip laundry incredibly easy. While the Italian restaurant is a splurge, the quality of the food and service makes it a must-do dining experience.
