“Comfortable gem by Tsugaike”

Great hospitality and a very comfortable room for us and our toddler. Location is perfect for Tsugaike and a short drive from other mountains.

The owner is very friendly and the room is clean and large. The area is not so busy so it is very easy to get in and out. It is very close to Tsugaike ski field as advertised and it is recommended to drive rather than taking the free bus.

Amazing, the owner was just lovely, so helpful, so friendly, we all felt like a Rossi family member the entire stay. Rooms were very clean, warm and strong warm shower. Log fire, lounge and big tv with ps5 was great each evening. Freshly cooked breakfast every morning ready at 7.30am. Big drying room for all your snow gear. All mountain lift pass includes free shuttle bus which is a short walk to the main road to the bus stop, 1 stop north to Tsugaike or 1 stop south to Iwatake. The Mexican restaurant near the bus stop was incredible so authentic.

Rossi made the stay exceptional. He is personable, knows a lot about the ski slopes, and was very inviting to my partner and I for all things dinner and social related. The property is a beautiful lodge, the rooms are clean, there is a drying area to stow your snow gear after a day, there is a big common area for food and relaxing as well. It’s also really close to a main bus stop between Tsugaike and Happo so you’re in the hot seat for your choice of resort. Also if you need to rent gear, Amigo next to the bus stop is a great choice and easy for the Rossi Star Accom. Oh nd Rossi or his staff will pick you up and drop you off from the Happo Bus terminal or train station if you need, it’s a fantastic service and really saved us in the blizzard that arrived when we did.

Very clean property and cozy accommodation. Owner was so helpful during our stay. We stayed in two locations during our holiday in Hakuba. He took the trouble to send us from his property to Echoland. This would have costed a lot with a cab. Breakfast starts at 730 and shuttle services to resorts are 8am and 830am. Pick up times are 330 and 4pm. The pickup and drop off service was really great. We really enjoyed the warm and friendly hospitality from Rossi and hope to return with a group of friends in future. Highly recommend staying here for the convenience to the slopes and for the clean and great property.

“It was alright...”

The only thing that disappointed me was the food. Maybe it's my problem. My previous Ryokan I had hot soup, homemade vegetables, grilled fish or whatever meat, pickles and rice, on top of bread and jam. sometimes I even have hotpot and every morning the breakfast was delicious and it provided me enough energy to last till 1:30pm. It's more like a japanese breakfast. Yet the breakfast served here is pretty basic. Which is a cold boiled egg or fried egg (cold as well) plus 2 pieces of apples and a salad which is straight from a packet. Nothing wrong really, however I am used to having hot food in the morning I am educated that eating cold food in the morning hurts the stomach slowly. ....just that I figured I have to buy extra food to add to their breakfasts.

The unit had everything you could need. Rossi was very friendly and approachable, he did whatever he could to make our say comfortable. The location was very good, less than a 10 min drive to Tsugaike Kogen and Iwatake ski resorts.

It was an immaculate building, fantastic host, very clean and very homely.It was quiet & peaceful in a pretty woodland setting. Very helpful hosts, lovely fireplace. Great breakfast. Large bedrooms, comfy beds, everything you could want in a ski lodge.Rossi’s weather forcast and condition reports very helpful.

The accomodation at Rossi Star is great. Rossi is really helpful and provides information getting around to make your stay awesome. We really enjoyed staying at Rossi Star.

“We enjoyed our stay.”

Nice host. Good breakfast. Meeting other guests. Room for skiis and boots/drying room. Located in between Tsugaike and Iwatake, two of the main ski mountains. Rossi dropped off and picked up from Tsugaike. Rossi helped to organise our large luggage/snowboard bags to be delivered straight to Narita airport so we could enjoy travelling to Tokyo for a few days without our large bags.

“Great accomodation!”

Location is great in close driving distance from various ski resort. The host is very accommodating and he is a snowboarder too who gives great recommendations on which mountain great for snowboarder, which parking lot is less crowded near the ski resort etc. big and warm dining room with free breakfast, and we can bring our food back to eat at night too, with fridge, utensils, and microwave provided. Spacious room with great temperature control and heater.

The rooms were big, we had 2 rooms for our family. One had a full size bath. Heating worked well, rooms were light and bright. Rossi’s breakfast is great! Western meal bacon, eggs, salad, toast, croissants, juice, tea & coffee. Great start to every day! We had amazing snow too!

It has been a wonderful experience staying at Rossi Star. Rossi’s house is very clean. It has a warm and cosy vibe. There is a nice cosy fireplace in the dining room where we can warm up after a long day on the ski slopes. It is literally minutes away from the bus stop to catch shuttle. Staying at Rossi Star feels like staying at a friend’s house. My family really enjoyed our short stay there. Will definitely recommend to friends.

“Relax”

Smaller place to stay, quieter. A nice fireplace to relax in front of. Rossi (and staff) were always helpful and generous. Can rent ski gear only a short walk away. Beautiful view.

Rossi Star is conveniently located just a short drive from the bustling town centre, offering a peaceful retreat. Nestled in a charming alleyway, the property looks stunning during the snowy season. The host maintains the accommodation impeccably, ensuring it is always tidy, and the snow is cleared each morning, so there are no delays when heading to the ski fields. The property owner prepares a delicious breakfast promptly at 7:30 AM each day. This accommodation is definitely on my list for a return visit the next time I’m in Hakuba.

Rossi is super attentive and kind. He tried to help us as much as he could with anything we needed. His hospitality is at the top level. When he could he would arrange transportation for us without additional charge. It was not for granted and highly appreciated. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The atmosphere with the other guests was wonderful.

The host (and his staff) made this one of the best places we have stayed in. Rossi was super helpful and thoughtful (bringing us a thermometer when my daughter was ill) and went beyond the kind of service you would normally get. We travel a lot and I have rarely seen someone who can make you feel welcome and supported with such ease and grace. He took us to the supermarket to get food when we arrived, he showed us where to rent skis and picked us up when others had to stand and wait for a bus. They even helped us locate something we left on the bullet train on the way up to Hakuba. The accommodation had everything we needed, was clean and warm, in really peaceful surroundings.
