Great location, handy to the lift. Staff was super helpful. It was great to have the ability to get the lift to the shop and onsen in the evenings.

“Comfortable place to stay”
Awesome spot for Happo One ski field. Bus stops close by to get to other ski fields. Homely comfortable feel to the place. Awesome breakfasts that set you up for a days skiing. Pick up and drop off service from bus terminal on arrival/departure. Onsen and shared shower area. Also single shower if you’re not comfortable using onsens. Range of ages of people staying here. Most comfortable beds we had in Japan.

Handy to some of the Happo slopes and gondola. It is up the hill, so beware as the Ubers or taxi were not always able to get there. Short walk down hill to a bus stop that see’s shuttle to nearby ski fields. The friendly staff were always on hand to support you. Breakfasts were exceptional. There is plenty of space in common areas, with essentially four areas to socialise outside your room. Drying room is compact, wifi is free, and shared bathrooms are manageable. The onsite Male or Female onsens are great. Next time, I would plan some dinner delivery’s or microwave meals, to avoid the hectic task of getting dinner bookings with non refundable deposits and the associated travel in a spread out ski town.

Perfect location for a 30 second walk to the ski field and a 5 minute walk down the hill into Hakuba for dinner and drinks. Amazing onsen facilities, washing and communal facilities where you can get chatting to your fellow travellers. Lastly, nothing is too much trouble for the friendly staff!!

“Fabulous!”
Our stay at Asuka Lodge was only for one night, but it was the most pleasant experience we’ve ever had! From the beginning, we were asked if we needed a ride from the Hakuba train or bus station. This was a surprise, as it wasn't stated in the booking information. We were picked up by Yachiyo, who provided fantastic recommendations for the best dining spots in town. She showed us around the lounge and informed us that she provides transfers to shops or onsen spots at specific times—luxury service! 😊 We had breakfast there for one morning; it featured freshly baked croissants with ham and cheese, which were super delicious (menu changes every day). The lodge itself is well-equipped with a dedicated area for snowboarding gear and boots, and it is conveniently located just across the road from the gondola to the slopes. Although we had a room with a private shower and toilet, we still used the on-site onsen to relax after a day on the slopes. The water was super hot, which is exactly what you need after snowboarding. A huge highlight was Yachiyo’s assistance with everything! The entire staff was incredibly friendly, communicative, and always ready to help. If you’re looking for an amazing place to stay with top-notch service and the perfect ski location, Asuka Lodge is the place to be. We can’t wait to return!

“This is a very well run and charming hotel.”
I stayed here for a week and really felt at home the whole time. All the management and staff are great; welcoming, cheerful, attentive and competent. My room was clean and cozy with charming views and sometimes I could even watch snow monkeys in the trees from the window. There’s great access to lifts, short walks to restaurants and shops and the hotel do plenty of shuttle services for buses, trains, shopping and nightlife.
