Nice, cozy and very clean hotel in a convenient location. The rooms are small but manageable with two pieces of luggage. Ensuite rooms include a fridge, and guests can also use a microwave, hot water, and tea available upstairs in the hallway. Nanjo-san is a wonderful host. He kindly offered free pick-up and drop-off from our selected station and explained the area using a map. The hotel is about a 200-metre walk to the free ski resort shuttles, a 15-minute walk to restaurants in Echoland, and a 10-minute walk to a 7-Eleven. The ski shuttles can be crowded and the timetable not always reliable, so using Uber with the ski-rack option worked well for us, as it easily accommodated our four snowboards. The private onsen is spectacular. Breakfast was not being served at the time of our stay. Having an additional microwave downstairs in the dining area would be a nice.

The owner is so nice and provides pick-up and drop-off service. The location is good. Bus stops are near the hotel. Free shuttle bus to ski resort is convenient. The private onsen is great, especially outdoor area is perfect.

The room was clean and warm, and the host went out of his way for us, explaining where to catch the bus to the ski slopes, and even dropped us to the bus station at the end of our stay.

The man who runs it was very nice and helpful. He even drove us to the bus station when we checked out. He helped us figure out our ski buses and the best places to go. The onsen is great, you just have to make sure you get in when it’s open and don’t stay too long.

very cosy and an amazing stay. we loved the onsen (indoor & outdoor) and the room was very spacious and warm. owner was fantastic! he offered us a lift to the train station and has loads of info about the town. he even explained the bus routes and places to eat near by. there are a few bus routes nearby that make it super easy to get to the mountains.

Nice Alpine house in a forested neighborhood, with large enough rooms, good bathroom, a very nice small onsen (in and outside) 2 free shuttle bus stops 100m away to Koryu and Iwatake ski slopes, 3 or 4 nice restaurants in walking distance (300m) and 7/11 is at 10mn walk. The very very kind owner answers the phone, takes care of everything, including picking you up at the station and driving you to the bus stand when you leave if needed. Ample parking if you have a car. Everything is just like in the pictures and the reviews. We had a lovely stay and would stay here next time.

I really liked how friendly and helpful the owner was, and he was genuinely kind and made the stay more pleasant. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the location was convenient.

The property is within walking distance to 7-11, few minutes to ski bus stop. Owner Nanjo San is very nice and gives us a few valuable tips how to move around. The best experience is the hot tub, indoor and outdoor, unique experience.

The first mention of all the things we loved about Anise Garden has to be Nanjo, the host. He's such a lovely guy, and helped us out a lot during our stay. The room was so warm and cosy, we had a great night's sleep, the bed was the comfiest we slept in during our 3 week trip in Japan. The onsen is of course the icing on the cake, especially in a mountain town like Hakuba.

Location was beautiful in a quiet wooded area of the city. While it wasn’t so close to the station, it was still walking distance. However, Nanjo-san was incredibly generous with his time, driving us to the Adam Gondola, to the station and on another occasion to a gorgeous restaurant by the lake.

Everything. Lovely guesthouse. The host, Nanjo was so friendly and welcoming and he spoke good English. The bathroom was spotless and beautiful with both an indoor and outdoor hot tub.

Great location. Nearest 7-11 is less than 10 mins walk away, Lawson, supermarket and restaurants are just within 20 mins walk. Hakuba Gondola station can be reached within 5 mins drive. Outdoor/ indoor Onsen is a bonus and the owner is very friendly and has a warm personality.
