1) Private walk-in onsens on a first-come-first-serve basis (3 outdoor springs). 2) Breakfast and Kaiseki dinner was very decent (got the bbq instead of hot pot), English menus with servers speaking basic English. 3) Free post-onsen treats (eg. Yakult, ice cream, milk) 4) Free drinks 24 hours at the lobby (special vinegar juice in the morning, dango during evening). 5) very spacious Japanese rooms. 6) Wonderful air-conditioning in room.

What a beautiful place! This is one of the nicest hotels I have ever stayed in. Everything from the staff to the room was excellent. The private onsen was so nice overlooking the forest, we also used the private onsens outside which were just lovely. The included dinner and breakfast were absolutely delicious, there was so much food (I did find it a little difficult to finish the breakfast option, as there was a lot to eat so early!). The shop and shuttle bus are also nice additions. I would love to stay here again!

Wow... maybe the best part of our journey... The room was huge, clean, comfortable, with everything you need for great and relaxing vacation. Big balcony with private hot tub and amazing view. The traditional Japanese breakfast and dinner were just amazing. The staff was nice and friendly.

“a perfect peaceful getaway”
The onsen was fabulous being outdoors in an bamboo forest, and the kaisieki meal was delicious. The bed could have been a bit more comfortable, but I slept fine due to the relaxation of the onsens. I like that they allow tattoos if covered which when I was looking seemed difficult to find places that allowed that. The location was beautiful although a bit of a trek to get to, although they had a shuttle from the nearest train station to pick me up which was wonderful.

Exceptional local experience - the hotel was full with Japanese guests - and rather oriented on their nationals which made the stay even more special - you could really soak in the culture, food and traditions. The food was just exceptional - the serving looked like art pieces, the freshness of fish and other products was just outstanding. I loved that the breakfast was also kept in traditional local way - so be aware it includes fish dishes - you may better book a mainstream gentrified places if you are not ready to try how locals eat in Japan - or just stay home. Despite some language barrier the team was extremely helpful and supportive when I asked for some help with planning my Kintoki Mount hike. I was lucky to stay in the part which was not renovated yet - it gave some vintage vibe and it was unbelievable to see how well maintained the room and all amenities were despite their visible age - I wish they would keep it that way but apparently the rooms in the other building were already newly renovated. All snacks (ice cream, warm snacks, tea and other drinks) available after relaxing in onsen made it even more special. The free shuttle from the hotel to the station was spotless and perfectly on time. Thank you so much for this special experience I could have in Hakone - I was honored to be your guest! ありがとうございます

“Can be better”
Newly renovated so it is very clean and comfortable. Room is super big and nice setting. Food is good but a bit too much, we can’t finish so it’s waste.

“Wonderful location in nature, Large public onsens and quaint private onsens. Food was superb.”
Staying at Mizunoto was exactly what we needed while travelling between kyoto and tokyo. While the insuite bath/onsen wasn't exactly what we were expecting, it still met our needs and wants. The large public, indoor onsens were amazing, while we'e experienced better private onsens at other locations. The food served at the restaurant during all of our meals (breakfasts and dinners) was amazing!! I honestly wish I could eat more of it right now, especially the sukiyaki.

We absolutely loved staying here, it was a real highlight of our Japan trip. The room was spacious and very comfortable, which made it even more enjoyable. The private onsen was incredibly relaxing, especially with the beautiful mountain views. The staff were so lovely and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay. We also really enjoyed the meals each morning and evening. Overall, it was an amazing experience and we would definitely return!

“A lovely experience, yet some things to polish!”
The location was stunning! They had a shuttle service from the station and back which was very handy! The garden and paths to the onsen were beautiful! And the ammenities were really nice too! The typical pajamas were soo comfy! We are trying to locate the same style to take them back home. We also rented a Yakata for the day which the staff very kindly helped us wear correctly!

Good service, nice hotel, good onsen - public baths very well maintained and not busy at all. We also got to try the private baths. Very satisified in terms of the onsen experience.

Very nice stay, amazing onsen (we tried the public, the private onsen, and had 1 in our room).

The overall location, the room, the traditional dinner (grilled for us), the private onsen on the balcony (with sifficient intimacy from the room, by design, that we could use in turns with our teen!), but also the private ones in the garden and the public ones. It really is a serene and relaxing place!

“Great ryokan, good onsen and great room with hot spring bath”
Great breakfast and dinner with lots of seasonal local ingredients. We stayed in a room with our own hot bath - it was a really nice room with good Japanese design. Onsen was also good and not too busy in early April.
