Manten-no-Hoshi offers Japanese-style accommodations and a public open-air hot spring bath. Free Wi-Fi is available at the entire property and Ohiradai Train Station is merely a 2-minute walk away. The air-conditioned rooms feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each comes with a flat-screen satellite TV and a fridge. Guests can choose from a variety of colourful Japanese Yukata robes. Luggage storage is provided at the front desk. Free private hot-spring baths are available. Free parking is on-site. Manten-no-Hoshi is a 20-minute drive from Lake Ashinoko and a 25-minute drive from Hakone Shrine. Hakone Yumoto Train Station is a 5-minute drive away. Lake Yamanaka is a 1-hour drive, while Mount Fuji 5th Station is a 1-hour and 45-minute drive away.

Very cozy traditional accommodation, in a good location. Close to the train station and shops. It was a bit uncomfortable for us to sleep on a futon, but I'm sure it's just because we're not used to it.

“Great stay at the traditional ryokan”
We loved the outdoor onsen. The place is located very close to the train station (Tozan Railway) so we dropped off our luggage and continued the Hakone Loop. There are two small convienience stores nearby and a small restaurant just across the road (cat themed:)).

No food at the hostel, but visiting the restaurant across the street was one of the highlights during our stay in Ohidarai. Really friendly owner and nice atmosphere.

“Exceptional experience for good money”
We spent excellent time here. The room was perfect, the view, the facilities, the atmosphere. Also, we enjoyed both onsens (indoors and outdoors) available at the ryokan. Outdoor one was the best, of course. There are cute yukatas too! The location is a little bit far from main attractions, but it was actually good and not too touristy. The staff members were very nice and helpful. Overall, we were very happy that we found this accommodation, thank you very much for your hard work!

“Ok for 2 nights”
It was Japanese style and it is different. Location was ok for us as we had a rental car but people who rely on the public transport, it can be isolated. No restaurants within a walking distance. It is a place to eat across the road…very nice food but it took ages to get the food, because is only one person is doing the serving and the cooking…

“Little gem”
We loved our stay and all the little details to make it comfortable and memorable. The staff were lovely and helpful. We enjoyed the many onsens and the kimonos. It was easy to access public transport and explore the area. My kid's wished we had booked a longer stay.

The place definitly has its charm. It is situated in the mountains so don't expect the same comfort offered in big cities. There is a bus stop and train station nearby. It was our first onsen experience and even the heavy downpour couldn't stop us from taking one of the 2 outdoor bath, in fact the chilly rain made the water jus the perfect temperature - under 50 °C so we could stay in a bit longer. If you are not the outdoor person worry not the place also has one 1-person and one capable of fitting about a 4 at a time indoor onsen bath.

Great proximity to Hakone sights - unbeatable value for money. Limited food options in Ohiradai, but easy to resolve with a very short journey on the train to Hakone-Yumoto, Gora, or a neighbouring station.

“One of the best hotels I've made in Japan”
One of the best hotels I made in Japan. We can privatize the onsen for 1 hour, it's very peaceful and relaxing. We can get access to the exterior public onsen from the back of the hotel.

Lovely traditional ryokan. Very clean. Great private Onsen. Gorgeous location - convenient but very peaceful.
