“Beautiful stay in Hakone”
Beautiful location in the mountains. The room was large and comfortable - we had western beds. They were very accommodating for us arriving late due to getting lost on our ride and very friendly. We made use of the private onsen which was very relaxing.

They made great effort to serve a six course vegan Japanese meal to us. It was commendable.

“An amazing place, I would move there for good if that was possible”
Everything was absolutely beautiful from the location, staff, facilities, to what we were offered and the way we were treated.

Just specifically 1 Staff Member was a little strange to us, the check in process was weird and could have been much less complicated. The staff did not explain the steps for the check in. ( We wished they explained us what and why to do certain things. We heard another Staff member explain exactly that to other new Customers). We were more or less forced to install an app on our phones without explaining FIRST for what purpose. When asked he did not give my traveling partner his cellphone back when he had problems installing the app ( he simply said: " No. " ) and continued trying to install the App for him. It was very weird.

“Great historical place, friendly and helpful staff, good cultural breakfast and dinner.”
Very cultural, convenient and remote, but not bad to reach by bus from Odawara railway station- buses are fairly often for the location. Met my expectations for this historical place. Kaiseki breakfast and dinner are awesome. Hotel is not low cost though, but good value for money. Fast check in and check out. Staff is very helpful and friendly. We had large room with our own bath inside (you have to be ready to pay the price for it though), but attended public onsen within the hotel too.

“Utterly charming experience”
Was a cultural experience rather than hotel stay. Staff were warm and welcoming. Room was charming and comfortable. We could fill the bath with the naturally heated spa waters !

“Traditional stay with onsen”
Traditional stay with an onsen for a true Japanese experience. The public onsen was fun (ladies and gentlemen are separated). They provide a Yakuta for the guests. The Dinner and breakfast were very tasty! Not quite cheap but in the end the experience was worthy.

“Great ryokan experience”
Great experience, would recommend. We stayed in a villa and it felt authentic (I always wanted to experience living in a traditional Japanese house). Thanks very much to the restaurant for accommodating my allergy, without this I would not have been able to enjoy a ryokan experience! I had to write in via their website to inform them of my allergy as got no response via booking.com message service. As other people have mentioned the rooms could be cleaner but since it is a very old property we let a few things slide. Dehumidifier was provided so we did not get any damp. I would second the option of having ladies gum boots as I hurt my toe trying to walk in the huge gum boots provided! Overall would recommend for a one time experience. Bus stop right by hotel is also very convenient. We stayed two night and agreed that food can get a bit repetitive but we still enjoyed the experience. Maybe consider a room instead of villa if villa not in budget.

“A good experience for one or two nights”
It’s a heritage building with ancient Japanese design. It provides the same vibe as the ancient house in the Japanese movie.
