Staff is very kind and helpful. It’s convenient to be able to reserve a private onsen. We were able to relax.

The private and public onsens are both wonderful, the food was delicious and special, the room was much bigger than the photos show. Everything was delightful and we would love to come back again

The view over the river was beautiful. The history of the building added atmosphere.

Very authentic ryokan with friendly staff and good food. Located 15 mins on foot from Hakone-Yumoto station and about 8mins from Tonosawa station. Hot and authentic onsen.

We had a great time. They served very delicious vegan Kaiseki dinner and breakfast on request. The building and Onsen bath have history and are really impressive. From our room we had a scenic view of the garden and river - the hotel layout was designed to offer a garden view from each room. The staff was very helpful and we can definitely recommend staying here.

The stay in the ryokan was excellent. The staff looked after us very well and the property was well maintained.. The dinner was also amazing, very tasty and very good looking dishes. To use the private onsens we had to book a slot, however there were plenty of slots available.

“Unforgettable experience!”

Staying at Fukuzumiro was a truly immersive way to experience traditional Japanese culture. Founded in 1890, the building carries a timeless charm - winding wooden corridors, a peaceful koi pond where you can feed the fish, beautiful gardens, and views of the river all make you feel transported to another era. We enjoyed an incredible kaiseki dinner and breakfast, and our attendant was exceptionally kind and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect stay. The ryokan has several onsen baths, including some that can be reserved for privacy. My husband and I stayed in the Sakura 2 room, which had its own private onsen - truly the highlight of our honeymoon in Japan. We only wish we could have stayed longer than one night. It was an absolute pleasure, and we hope to return one day. Thank you for having us!

Lovely building full of character! Our host Mammi, was a delight, very friendly. The food was great and they were able to cater for our vegetarian diets. They gave you water and green tea in the room. The baths were lovely. What an amazing old building.

The room was straight out of a movie, with the river echoing in the back and minimum furniture provided serving its purpose. I will forever cherish the evenings spent by the window, reading a book and just taking it all in.

A fabulous experience. Everything we hoped it would be, completely different to a standard western style hotel. Room was a good size, food was great and Akiko looked after us very well.

It's an exceptional experience, one of the best I've had in my life, and I do mean it. The place is gorgeous and might I say magical. I've felt welcome and comfortable. The food was exceptional. The onsens were great as well. I wish I stayed longer.
