Opened in 1878, Fujiya Hotel features Meiji Era architecture set in Hakone’s natural beauty. Just 500 metres from Miyanoshita Station, it offers indoor and outdoor pools, a spa and a restaurant in a converted Imperial Villa called Kikka-so Inn. Rooms feature bathtubs with natural hot-spring water. Rooms are divided between 5 different buildings constructed between 1891 and 1960, providing a variety of styles and decors. All rooms are non-smoking, and come with air conditioning and a private bathroom. The Gora area and Hakone-Yumoto Train Station are a 15-minute drive. Hakone-Jinja Shrine and Owakudani Valley are about 10 km away. The hotel offers a free shuttle from nearby Miyanoshita Train Station (call upon arrival at station to use). Public hot-spring baths are on site, and guests can enjoy the hotel’s garden and greenhouse. The hotel has its own shops and museum. Massage services are also offered. The hotel's indoor pool uses natural hot-spring water. Main Dining Room "The Fujiya" serves French cuisine in an elegant space. Restaurant Cascade offers Western dishes, while Kikka-so serves traditional Japanese kaiseki dinners. A bar, lounge and bakery are available.

This hotel is absolutely phenomenal. It is beautiful, and surrounded by nature. It is the perfect place to relax. The rooms are comfortable and have anything a guest might need. The onsen is also very good.

An old traditional hotel which is a monument in its own right. Large rooms. Three restaurants available on the premises. Traditional swimming pool and quite modern onsen. Very attentive staff.

“Beautiful old world charm hotel, but service was a bit rushed.”
I had stayed at the Fujiya Hotel a long time ago, before the big reform, and was pleased to see that, while it is now more modern and comfortable, it has managed to keep many of the original features and atmosphere. It is a beautiful grand hotel. We particularly enjoyed visiting the museum and the garden. The hot spring is beautiful! The staff is impeccably polite and efficient.

“Treat yourself it’s worth it”
What a stunning place and quit easy to get to from Tokyo by Romance Car and Hakone Tozan railway . beautiful from a bygone era but extremely well maintained and staff lovely . We stayed in a forest wing room which was spacious and lovely and very quiet . food at Kikkaso was lovely and Breakfast was good in the main dining room

“Short but sweet!”
Staff were exceptional. Especially the Spa team. A lovely place for us to relax before heading home. The slightly colonial style and atmosphere was charming.

“Deeply Disappointing Stay”
The tea and coffee station at breakfast was well set up and of good quality. Aside from this, there were unfortunately very few highlights from our stay.
