Boasting open-air hot spring baths and ocean views, Wakamatsu Hot Spring Resort is a 15-minute drive from JR Hakodate Station. Free parking is available on site. “Very good chance to understand what is a real ryokan”
A good, authentic ryokan with an interesting interior. The staff were very hospitable and did their best to accommodate all our requests. Both breakfast and dinner were excellent—delicious and beautifully presented. Our friends from America were very pleased and got to experience true Japanese ryokan.

“Very good experience in a traditional ryokan, it makes our Hakodate trip felt so much different. Love it.”
It was very personal and attentive from the moment our taxi stopped in front of the ryokan, the staff came out immediately to greet us and take care of our luggage. They even wiped our luggage wheels clean before carrying into the ryokan. Room was old fashioned (well is a ryokan since 1922) but very clean, very well kept, and is very nice to have a different feeling from the usual chain hotel with buffet meals 😆. We had a good rest, very peaceful feeling, private bath was spectacular. It was an experience that we all enjoyed and glad we chose something different to stay at Hakodate.

All the staff are very kind. The Japanese style house is unique and its worth a experience. They have private and common onsen (with beach view outside) We had a great time and would highly recommend this place

Magical place. Exceptional service and hospitality from staff. The onsens were relaxing and beautiful. We loved the private bath to enjoy as a family. The room was immaculate and the view amazing. 10 out of 10!
